Hi

Im a 19 year old male and ive been mewing for about 2 months now.

At the start my IMW was 31.3mm and now its at 32.5mm.

Is this a good expansionrate?

That's very good. With a very narrow palate like your it's very hard to expand, you did well. How are you taking your measurements? What is your mewing routine?

Hey thanks for replying

Im taking my measurements with my calliper.

When i found out about mewing i started eating harder foods. I dont chew gum, but i might try it after some more expansion has occured.

In the first month i was not doing the mew push swallow and have only been putting my tounge on the roof on the mouth. Dont know why, but i did not have that blocked airway problem a lot of people seem to have, so thank god for that.

in the second month i started hard mewing and incorparating the mew push swallow and i feel these two techniques are really helping to accelerate my expansion. In the past few days ive sometimes been able to mew in my  sleep.

Taking a measurement like that is tricky and most people overestimate. Do you see actual changes to your teeth?

Well ive had 4 years of  hands on metal construction traning, so i think im good on the measuring front :D.

I dont really see any noticable changes yet. At most, my back molars seem to be a tiny bit more visible when i smile hard, but that could just be placebo.

while I don't think that is fast at all, it is very commendable considering how narrow your palate is. just remember that it only gets easier! More room, more strength and more knowledge. your gains should accelerate

Looking at your smile might not be the best way to inspect if your teeth are moving, because it takes allot of transverse movement to show in the smile. If you open your mouth and look at the arches you might be able to get a better idea.

Being handy with tools can help but its very easy to overestimate. For the first 6 months of my expansion with braces my orthodontist was taking measurements directly on my teeth and said that I expanded by 3mm. After doing the first impression it was revealed my expansion was about 1mm!

Now this was not unusual as most of the time my teeth were moving to form a uniform arch, and they picked up pace afterwards, but you can imagine my surprise.
