Female, age 40; developed with untreated tongue tie; IMW of 31 or 32.
My mind is still trying to grasp what I learned in the last 4 months! Thank you to admin (TGW?) for hosting this forum.

Blanket
No one here has talked about weighted blankets yet. From a Buteyko way of thinking it makes sense that they might help by gently restricting the lungs while we sleep on our backs. They are reputed to help calm ADHD kids; poor airways are linked to ADHD type symptoms.
Despite these blankets being an American fad, would anyone care sacrifice their wallet and see if it helps with Buteyko breathing? Or perhaps someone with TMJ disorder trying to quit tummy sleeping?
My brother sleeps under leather / cowhide, but he is too gruff and impatient for me to ask if it functions to calm him. Regrettably he has no interest in learning about proper oral posture or jaw development.
Food Rethink
We've listened to a intelligent, respected member of the community chatter excitedly about chewing on chia seeds and the fibrous bits of asparagus We're eating liver and vitamins we'd never heard of before. One of us has told "creative stories" to convince his dentist to make a mold of his teeth. We've pulled on belts and plastic bags. We're trying open-mouth chewing. I've walked thru my oriental grocery store taking notes to see what those weird fibrous plants are. And has anyone given a second glance to the dog chew toys in the grocery store yet?
Breast feeding
For several years I helped a class of 2 year olds. One boy stood out as being sturdy and strong, like he might knock his peers over just by walking into them. He had a wide mouth. Only now did I connect his jaw size with the fact that his mother still breast fed him. I just thought it was genetic. It's Not Genetic.
Breathing
Dentist and author Stephen Lin Steven Lin and certain yoga instructors recommend slow deep breaths to calm one's self. Buteyko promotes light, quiet, smaller-volume breathing. I suspect Dr. Lin is wrong and Buteyko is correct. We need light diaphragmatic breathing and to learn how to moderate our breath.
Cold
Buteyko also recommended cold showers and drafty houses. -He he, that's not for me. I like warm stale winter air. Besides, I have Raynaud's syndrome and they recommend keeping hands and feet warm.
Digerderoo
Dentist also mentioned people improving their sleep apnea by learning to play the digerderoo.
Has anyone here learned the digerderoo? Did it affect your facial features or help apnea?
Fixing Real People, Fictional People
You read too much of this stuff and you want to fix people. A colleague from work is tall and young but keeps his head forward, shoulders rounded. It's painful to see but he is not interested in change at the moment.
Then there is Neville Longbottom from the Harry Potter series. I just want to sit him down and explain to him the dangers of mouth breathing and snoring. Perhaps he'd do better in potions class if he knew proper oral posture and expanded his palate. The magical community really let him down by not teaching this.
Head Shape -baby
Am I the only one who worries when they see a baby with an elastic around their head? You know, those decorative things for girls that usually have a pretty little red flower on them. Even before, I worried about it affecting head shape. I imagine the head being squeezed together and think it's creepy, creepy, creepy.
Head shape -occipital.
In Zambia, an African country where I lived for a while, the men have carved, well defined occipital area (the back of the head). It's sexy and a sign of good health. And now I know that it's not genetic. Congrats to all of you that have reshaped the back of your head via good posture (and maybe flatter pillow/ no pillow?)
No Teeth
Do we have any advice for people with no teeth in order that they keep a healthy face? I'm asking for the sake of a friend.
Testing hypothesis
If it's true that tongue on roof of mouth helps keep the face from falling, wouldn't we be able to walk into a nursing home and easily differentiate the haves from the have-nots? I suppose that's why head's harden- it limits the amount of damage time can do.
What about soldiers? At some point they have all recovered from CFD so surely we could test them and see if speed, stamina and IMW are closely correlated. Has anyone done this?
IMW should be documented routinely, like blood pressure, BMI or height. Eventually we'd get meaningful stats.
In regards to your question about no teeth, if you have no teeth then your jaw will lose significant stimulation and start to atrophy, only way to prevent this is implants. Even with dentures you can't load the jaw as much or in the same way as real teeth so the jaw starts to atrophy.
