I watched a video with a medical doctor talking about how he taped his mouth shut to promote proper nose breathing while sleeping. Is this safe? I have a pretty recessed chin and I don't really want to die in my sleep over trying to make myself more handsome.
Has anyone tried this?
If you were to suffocate because you cant breathe through your nose, i am sure the desire to breath and the strength of your lower jaw is enough to "break free" from the tape.
But apart from that, i think its easier to lay down in a position or have your pillow placed in a way, where your jaw rests in a chin tuck.
I sleep with my mouth taped. If my nose were to get blocked in the night, I'm sure I would wake up and take the tape off.
It's not like it's impossible to remove it. I also just do on strip of tape vertically over the middle of my mouth, so if I needed to, I could still breath through the sides of my mouth in a pinch.
Just try it out, you wont die!
- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day
So that's 4 for "you'll be fine" and 1 for "you will die if x". Just need one more positive comment and the odds start to look as good as Russian roulette.
Jokes aside, I'm probably gonna try this tonight. I can definitely breath through my nose better, now that I've been mewing for 6 months. I just still keep waking up with my mouth wide open.
I did this tonight. Was a lot less uncomfortable then I thought it would be before hand. Didn't snore and I think that it helped me sleep better. I do have to add that I have no trouble with breathing through my nose during the day when not exercising too hard.
