Should the teeth touch?

I've been doing the mewing tongue suction hold for about 8 months now, and the change to my breathing has been immense. My airways feel more open, and if I manage to keep doing it in my sleep (only manage this about 40% of the time), my airways feel amazing on waking too, rather than being filled with sludge etc.

Issue is, as I start to read more about oral posture, I don't seem to able to find a conclusive answer on whether my teeth should be touching at rest. Currently if I relax my jaw and continue to suction hold, I look as I do in the left in this image  (apologies for the shoddy facial hair, I've not had a chance to shave this past week) wheras lightly touching them leaves me looking as I do on the right, which I feel negates my recessed chin by a lot as it seems to lift my lower jaw into a better positon. (noone else in my family has a recessed chin like I do, and my dad has an amazing jawline which I've sadly not inherited.)

The teeth should be in light contact or near contact. I keep mine together. You want to avoid both slack-jaw and clenching. The important consideration is balancing the force of the tongue against the palate pushing the teeth apart with engagement of the masseters pulling the teeth together. You want to gradually build up the resting tone of both muscle groups so that they remain balanced.

When my teeth are in contact I only feel my back molars touching. Is this normal?

Pretty sure all teeth are meant to touch

It's not normal, but it wont prevent you from mewing properly, just keep those teeth that do touch in light contact. You might have an anterior open bite, which can result from tongue thrust habits. So mastering correct oral posture could also help correct this issue.

When swallowing the teeth are meant to lightly touch, but not clench. How do you manage to do this?

Either I clench or my jaw falls down leaving a gap between my teeth, there's no middle ground for me!

The tongue pressing up against the palate and the mandible down should balance the force of the masseters pulling the mandible up. If these two forces are balanced there shouldn't be a net force clenching the teeth together, even though the teeth are touching.
