People with long and downswung faces have a head that is also longer at the back.... when we chin tuck, we are pressuring our skull into downwards growth.
Look at mike mews head. its basically an oval, and the back of his head are where the goal posts would be.
if this is a dumb theory then please say so and maybe put why you think so, but it makes sense to me....when you chin tuck you are creating a straight line from the back of your neck to the back of your head, which is exactly what people with downgrowth already have.
so i will no longer be chin tucking. my focus will simply be perfect body neck and tounge posture and chewing a ton of plants, which easily give enough jaw pressure each day (takes me about 4 hours of total eating time)
hopefully my jaw will widen so it no longer look like i have 2 bananas (curving inwards) looking at my face
Hi,
i don't understand what you think chin tucking purpose's is
Downward grown people subcousciously tilt their face up
Which Is the right posture in your opinion? Red or green?
The correct head posture is one where the head is resting perfectly on top of the spine while the airway is completely clear, in other words, in order to have perfect head posture you need your maxilla out of the airway and not as downswung.
na man. when you headtuck you are pushing your tongue up and thus the maxilla; this raises and pulls the jaw forward. it also brings the teeth together, which does shorten the face over time.
Omg a response from krollic. thanks dude
My current understanding (after reading posts on this website) is that we can't just push the maxilla up with our tongue. it doesn't appear to have ever been done in adults. we need to build our masseters and widen our pallete, so that our face becomes wider, and the maxilla will also become wider...... (and then maybe the maxilla angle improves as you widen it) this will obviously help to habituate mewing and body posture even further.
so do you chin tuck? how hard and how far back do you go?
There was a post on reddit that said not to chin tuck- check this out real quick https://www.reddit.com/r/orthotropics/comments/cyi0ty/do_not_do_mc_kinze_chin_tuck/?utm_source=BD&utm_medium=Search&utm_name=Bing&utm_content=PSR1
i think chin tucking is good to achieve a straight neck, but then once you have good neck posture, should we be chin tucking if we can mew properly anyway?
how is your progress going @krollic? what is ur routine? thanks
I just do a moderate chin tuck so my head is level and my spine is aligned vertically. I get my palatal pressure via hard mewing i.e pushing very firmly with the entire tongue. the main purpose of the chin tuck is to stop the tongue detaching from the roof and the jaw hanging apart, I think. you shouldn't need to bring the head behind the spine all the time at all but I think that's still a good exercise for strengthening related muscles.
progress is very slow but consistent now that's i'm hard mewing, including the very back of the tongue and lighty pushing my teeth together. I think it's better than "butterfly touch" and probably needed for a lot of adults
