What causes hooded eyes?
Good looking due to facial balance i.e. all of his features fitting together well
low set eyebrows, good hairline, large skull, overall pretty good balance/proportions
hooded eyes meaning double eyelids, right?

while I certainly agree that double eyelids are more attractive, isn't that more of a genetic thing than oral-posture related?

No your image just shows a comparison between eyelids with a crease and "mongoloid" eyelids which lack a crease. Hooded eyes have skin that extends down from the brow ridge and covers the crease.

thanks mate. so is this genetic or enviro?

Hooded eyes? Like most aspects of facial structure, probably a little of both. My eyes are already pretty hooded, but I find that if I perform an exaggerated chin tuck, my upper lids look about as hooded as Gandy's in the picture I posted above. However, in that position I have a little scleral show between my irises and my lower lids which isn't there in my neutral head posture. This makes me suspect if I improved my head posture and achieved some upward/forward remodeling of my maxilla my eyes would look very hooded without the scleral show. You can confirm this for yourself in the mirror by flexing and extending your neck and watching the change in the level of hoodedness of your upper lids. You'll see more of the creases in your eyelids when you raise your chin and less as you do a chin tuck.
yeah, see what you mean. Haven't paid this aspect much attention but now that I consider it I think I have improved in this regard since beginning mewing
Hmm yeah, I have hooded eyes like that, basically you could take a battleaxe to my face and it probably won't reach the eye its that deep, hooded by the bone itself, the brow ridge and cheek bone would get in the way. I also have a sloping forehead. My skull :\ very neanderthal-ish, I don't even have the elongated face problem or the "I'm choking while mewing", mine is wide and round, now that I'm chewing and mewing as well as getting ridd of the 28% bodyfat, its becoming more andgular. \o/ just want my mandible to swing up like 3 mm....God effing please, dang crowded front maxilla & shitty gonial angle!
Hooded eyes IMO seem to be caused by a less sharp supraorbital margin. This is why they are more common in males.
Deep set eyes otoh is entirely different and have to do with how far back the eyeballs are from the edge of the orbits.
Gandy has hooded eyes but his eyes are not super deep set. Michael Cera has very deep set eyes but no hooding. Ann Coulter has the same as Cera.
Gandy
Cera

Coulter

Also, brow ridge is independent of this. Coulter has no brow ridge and very deep set eyes. Cera has a brow ridge and deep set eyes. Gandy has a strong brow ridge and his eyes are not deep set but hooded.
Eh. I hate looks theorists in that they will explain away attraction by individual features that make people beautiful. What many don't realize is facial harmony matters most. Not whether specific features are present.
Also that eye area comparison is unfair. Guy on the right clearly is raising his eyebrows

The image above is just the thumbnail of the video. There's a better comparison at 0:37 within the video. They also discuss the skeletal structure of the orbits around 1:31. I'm not sure how their assessment that "vertically compact and projected orbits are more attractive & youthful" corresponds with your statement that hooded eyes result from "a less sharp supraorbital margin." Are they saying the same thing?

No they aren't saying the same thing. They just are saying that the less "open" your eyes look the better . vertically compact orbits would in theory avoid a bug eyed appearance.
Hooded/non hooded is irrelevant to aesthetics. It is just a type of feature.

It seems logical that an elongated face would have vertically elongated orbits with reduced under eye support and a brow ride set farther back. So a face with better upward and forward growth and better head posture would have vertically compact, broader orbits. I think hooding itself is not necessarily good or bad, but your eyes are more likely to appear hooded with good posture and growth patterns.

Brow ridge itself isn't part of this. Gandy from the side has his eyes set relatively forward. Heck most women lack browridges anyway.
Also How deep the eyes are isn't really part of attractiveness. Facial balance is i.e. whether your features fit well together. There are millions of possibilities in an attractive face honestly .
The basics as always:
1.Good FWHR
2.Dark, low set eyebrows
3.Good mandible/lower-third.
4.Wide eyes with good palpebral fissure length.
5.Taut, forward cheekbone structure and definition
6. Low amount of buccal/face fat
7.Fairly symmetrical and straight nose/face.
8.Good and balanced ratios between upper, middle and lower third.
Every guy would be widely attractive if he met all of these conditions.
