I just got the surgery and they stitched it up but they told me not to stretch it? Should I listen to them or stretch it because I heard it can grow back

Ask them why you shouldn't stretch the tongue. As far as I'm aware more tongue tie surgeries include some stretches afterwards. The least you can do if you can't stretch is make sure you keep tongue posture as well as possible, as dropping the tongue could make the tongue tie heal improperly, and also moving the tongue around.

You can also do tongue push ups and tongue chewing to get your tongue occupied and making sure it stays on the roof of the mouth. Myofunctional exercises might help as well.

Maybe a suction hold will help as well?

The point is to keep that tongue active somehow so it doesn't drop from the roof of the mouth and heal improperly. Ask them first though, you say you had stitches, maybe that's it? I honestly haven't heard of a tongue tie in which you get stitches, but I don't know much about tongue tie surgery away. You won't know until you ask them why you shouldn't do stretches.

Do not stretch.  These guys sound like they know what they're talking about.

I know its very strange and they just used local anesthetic and a scalpel. They seemed to cut it then instead of leaving it open like ive seen with other tongue tie releases. So in a way they cut my tongue tie then sowed it back up then made it much less of a tie but still a tie...

Hmm that's unconventional, from what I've seen no stitching is involved, this could possibly be why they are telling you not to stretch your tongue. Ask them to make sure.

Let it heal! Jeeeze.

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

It's very important to do tongue exercises/stretches prescribed by a professional (myofunctional therapist). If not, there is a high risk that it reattaches with scar tissue. You should look for one to assesses your situation. Good Luck.

Maybe you can have a consultation with her? or ask her in an Email?
