I've been wondering about how to get slimmer cheeks, not only because it looks more aesthetic but also to better track my maxilla and jaw growth progress.

I know the causes may be water retention due to lack of hidratation and fat levels, but I've always been slim, and I drink enough water throughout the day so I doubt those are the reasons in my case, so I decided to do some googling and came across some smiling excercices to make cheeks slimmer. It goes against the logic of "atrophied muscles are thinner" but, I don't really use my cheeks during the day and I don't usually smile and I dont use them to eat or swallow, my cheeks should be very atrophied but they don't look very thin so I decided to give it a try. I'll post either positive or negative results. What are your thoughts about it?

yeah. water retention, fat, cheek hypertrophy, poor facial development and genetics are the big ones.

what is "enough" water? I recommend drinking that shit all the time. I easily go through about 6-7 liters a day. I like to keep a jug, kettle and pot near my workstations so I can drink water constantly either chilled or as tea/coffee. people do not get enough of this stuff. there is really no downside to drinking a lot of it other than having to piss every half an hour or so lol. constant levels of high hydration will keep your skin taut, elastic and keep fat levels down.

are you slim i.e lean or skinny fat?  either way you should be exercising. I recommend sprinting or weight lifting especially for dudes. it will keep you lean and also help redistribute your fat storage's as your health/hormone levels improve.

cheek atrophy is pretty easy and can happen within a few weeks. you know most of stuff like no exaggerated closed-mouth movements when eating, chewing gum or brushing teeth etc. avoid sucking on things like straws and practice a proper tongue sweep and swallow

I can't speak to this for certain but it makes sense that those with underdeveloped faces are going to have less than favorable proportions and that could make things like cheeks seem more negatively prevalent. that one is gonna come with mewing, posture and time.

genetics? welp. I'm pretty optimistic that the vast majority of people who are healthy can achieve good looking faces with proper development and lifestyle so I doubt it's an issue.

@krollic First of all, WTF 6-7 liters a day?! Wow man you're crazy hahaha, I only drink 2 liters, (without counting other liquids) I'm sure that's more than enough, I always pee clear and go to the bathroom like 6-7 times a day, are you sure your water diet is not counterproductive? I've heard too much water is not good but I might be wrong.

I'm slim with a high methabolism and I do excercise intensely every day, progressive calisthenics, I'm not fat whatsoever, I have a mildly noticeable six pack when I contract the abs. Just mildly though, which means my,  bodyfat is not that low.

And I do avoid using my cheeks always, when eating, swallowing, etc. So I don't really understand why I lack atrophy, I'll let you know what happens with my smiling routing

I believe 2 liters is the minimum recommended amount for the typical person. You are very active, male and probably around your 20's? You are gonna be losing a lot of water from sweating. 6 liters sounds like a lot but if you constantly sip it every couple of minutes over the course of an entire day you will go through it surprisingly fast. It definitely doesn't feel like I'm forcing myself to drink it at all. There is a risk if you drink an insane amount of water over a very short period because the kidneys can't keep up but that is very hard to achieve and is in a much shorter time window lol.

With your lifestyle and metabolism you could very easily achieve a low bodyfat (something like 8-12%) in a small amount of time. It would mean not eating as much or not as often. Some people have different ratios of storing fat around their body and require lower levels of fat to achieve stuff like a  lean face than others. I'd suggest you try go that low and see if it fixes your issue.

Sometimes the cheeks look puffy is the jaw is poorly developed.

Are there any orthodontists you would recommend?

I highly believe it’s because people use their buccinators (cheek muscles) when swallowing or chewing, rather than letting there tongue doing the work.

Also, id highly recommend washing your face with ice cold water all the time instead of hot water to reduce any excess retention.

My buccinators remain neutral during chewing and swallowing and I always shower with cold water, it's not that I have fat cheeks, but they are thick enough to not make my cheekbones and jaw defined

OP ,

Expanding my palate helped get rid of puffy face simply by pushing the zygos laterally. Has your palate expanded?
