I've finally resumed chewing gum and am wondering how everyone else is doing it, and for how long. The past two days that I've done it, I've been open mouth chewing one piece of Falim gum on each side simultaneously for 2 hours and then finish off with combining the pieces to chew on my more recessed side for another 10-15 minutes. One or two of my molars feel a bit weird in their sockets, though they already did, so I might change it up to every other day instead of every day in case I hurt my teeth. Chewing with my mouth closed for 3+ hours and alternating sides in the past never felt like it did anything, but this new way feels like more of a workout and effort to do. Results won't come for months, of course, I'm just describing the sensation so far. How are you chewing and do you see any progress?
Anybody?
I've now switched to 3-3.5 hours of OMC every other day, seems to be a good fit so far. Not sure if the 8 hours of chewing that some report doing is logical or insane to attempt, it seems like far too much.
I have seen jaw expansion without much chewing honestly. To the point that when I finally bought Mastic, it just felt like regular gum and not even all that chewy or hard. It is harder than regular gum but definitely not anything that causes soreness. It may be my big teeth, too.
As for me I have been doing like an hr a day every other day. Maybe I will up it but I see no sense in going all out from the beginning. Then again I don't have the obsession with the large masseters some people online do.
Are you getting your results just from tongue posture and such? I struggle to make it happen, so I'm thinking that strengthening my jaws can help build a better base for correct posture. (even though the problem has nothing to do with keeping my mouth closed) I don't get the obsession with large masseters, either. An overly square face doesn't look great on everyone, I know it wouldn't on me. I'm mostly doing it to strengthen the appearance of my weak jaws and to fix asymmetry. 3.5 hours feels like the sweet spot right now, it's not very painful after getting warmed up. I've never sustained a chewing routine for more than a few weeks, so there isn't much else to compare it to.
