I forgot the video exactly but Mike Mew said something interesting about braces and the bite, that no matter how perfect you try to get the braces it's still going to be a little imperfect, issue being that because they are fixed your teeth can't adjust to be in proper occlusion. He noticed when he asked patients to clench and felt their jaw muscles, people with braces didn't activate their jaw muscles as much. In a video by Ronald Ead he explains a similar sort of concept

Essentially, misaligned jaws inhibit the force your jaw muscles can produce. The analogy he provides is like walking with a limp, if you have a nagging pain in your leg or foot that you naturally limp in order to lessen that pain or uncomfortable feeling.
