Would pressing forward on the root of the lower incisors correct an overbite?

Your intercanine distance needs to improve as well as your lip seal. Once those things improve your palate will evenly widen which will allow your chin to project normally.

the reason you are saying the intercanine distance needs to improve is so that the mandible can come forward, is that correct?

Doesn´t that change how the molars bite together then?

It does. But the molars would line up ideally since in Class 2 they don't come together properly as it is (the mandible molars are too far back)
