Fitst, thank you guys for this site. This topic is huge! Can't believe only a few groups of people are actually talking about this. However built this forum thank you sooooo much.
A little background about me:
Now I have to be honest. I'm scared of getting braces again. I simply thought that perhaps the idea behind my decision is if I could at least get my bite correct while mewing this would perhaps speed up the process of fixing my issues which are:
So far my dentist hasn't changed anything yet apart from the wires which I'm guessing is helping me with expansion. I just thought if the bendy Damon braces wire wanted to straighten then it would force my palate to expand. At the same time mewing hard might actually help the process as the teeth are already being shifted to expand by the wires. Also which I'm taking the opportunity to develop my maxilla. It's only been a month and I feel like i can now easily get my front bottom teeth touch my front upper teeth which I have to admit is hard for someone who has an overbite (It's normally uncomfortable and my teeth shakes but now it's easy).
Feel free to correct me or tell me your suggestion.
What I'm scared about is the fact that my dentist was suggesting implant in my bottom teeth and extracting my upper molar on the right. Please see attachment.
I attached a pdf that shows my X-ray. What do you guys think of my side profile? What should be a reasonable action to that scan?
I attached another side profile of me from Dec 2018 just to show you guys that my maxilla isn't as developed and my chin is proportionally smaller than my upper face which doesn't look like it harmonise with my face?
Is the implant a good idea? Do you reckon fixing my overbite first without the implant might be a suitable option? Then perhaps do the implant if chin is still too small for my face? I'm seeing my dentist again but I am hoping for your opinion. As much as possible I want to be informed and more involved with the dentist? Basically I dunno what's next huhu. 😔
Thank you guys.
I have similar problems but way worse, your overbite and maxila aren't that bad. you don't have a broken nose.
Thank you for sharing the pics and the x-ray. I'm starting mewing now and also looking for a dentist.
Thanks mate, I realised that chewing gum with tongue and smashing it at the roof of my mouth stimulates my sinus which in turn helps me breath in both of my nostril. That was effing insane as I lived most my life with half of my nose blocked!
If you have an overbite it helps getting the front teeth to touch. Now, it will shake as your face is not used to it but eventually pushing the mandible forward would be easy as. Hope that helps mate.
Also regarding my nose, I have deviated septum which is a result of under developed maxilla and huge tonsils because of mouth breathing. I'm trying to push my maxilla out so i would have more air passage. I noticed that on the xray, my passage isn't normal hence the need for expansion.

A little background about me:
- 21 years old
- had braces in teenage years - (had to stop due to continues relocation)
- have 4 missing tooth in the lower arch and 2 in the upper arch
- mouth breather (though getting better at breathing in nose now)
- overbite (jaw can slight rest in healthy bite after a month now after mewing, new braces [I'll explain further], and chewing gum with tongue )
- Started mewing and correcting posture (still am) on Dec 2018 also had new braces
Now I have to be honest. I'm scared of getting braces again. I simply thought that perhaps the idea behind my decision is if I could at least get my bite correct while mewing this would perhaps speed up the process of fixing my issues which are:
- narrow palate (I need more tongue space)
- underdeveloped maxilla
- overbite
