So ive been mewing since around February, and I've implemented a lot of the tips I've seen on this forum, but i haven't had 1mm increase in my IMW? I started at 37mm and I haven't seen any changes. Maybe I'm expecting results too early but I thought it was supposed to be easier for teens?

also, idk if this is a factor but I am constantly wearing headphones, maybe that has something to do with the lack of results?

What on earth do headphones have to do with your palate?

You have "gamer" and such in your name, what I'd immediately pay close attention to is your sitting posture and neck posture. Do you ever crane your neck forward? If you spend many hours a day on the computer, sitting posture is very very important for facial development, as is neck posture. Neck posture directly affects oral posture. I theorize the ones that get the greatest result primarily focus on fixing body and neck posture as a whole, while being aware of oral posture. A domino effect of sorts, where the oral posture is the last piece to fall into place.

Is your screen high enough up, so you don't have to crane your head forwards? The top of the screen should be at eye level when you have good posture and are in a comfortable work position. Do you ever slouch in your chair? Do you have armrests so you don't have to hunch over the desk to type? Do you regularly work out? Do you engage the core muscles while sitting? These are important questions to ask yourself when it comes to posture, and as mentioned posture affects neck posture which affects oral posture.

Idk, maybe the constant pressure from the headphones would push everything inwards? It does sound kind of stupid now that i think about it..

I do try to keep good neck posture, but I haven't been paying as much attention to it as tongue posture, guess i should start that.

if i do slouch when I'm sitting though, its usually backwards instead of forwards though, would that cause as much damage?

im sorry man but that was one of the funniest things ive read in a while 🤣 🤣 there is no way thats possible

Are you sure you're using your tongue to apply pressure to the sides of your palate? Because if not you probably wont get any expansion.

You should not be constantly wearing headphones in the first place

Now that i think about it, ive really only been applying pressure upwards, not outwards.

what's most important is the suction hold. is your tongue suctioned to your palate and suspended in the vacuum that is the area between your sealed lips and your tongue blocking your airway? it should be like this when you are asleep too.

don't worry about actively applying pressure with your tongue. what's most important is the suction + good oral and bodily posture. you can make your tongue/jaw stronger w/ exercises outside of this

Yes, slouching backward would affect your ability to make progress. Check out the discussion of "occipital drive" in the thread, "Progress of Progress." Fully upright, aligned posture is essential.

@krollic Why do you think the succ hold is so important? How do you know if you have it down correctly?

I personally experience that my tongue is naturally resting on my palate as long as I maintain good head and neck posture, but Im not sure that equates to a succ hold? Also note that actively pressing your tongue up on the palate naturally strengthens the tongue.

Excellent observations, @ForTheFuture 👍 .Totally what I was thinking
