I find it it frustrating how my face can't seem to look the same way every day I view it. I would observe myself to see whether any improvements are coming along, and some days I can tell my face has developed a pinch better to what it looked the other month. Although, other days my face seems to drop again; flatter cheekbones and a recessed chin, and I don't seem to recognize what I am doing wrong. Same oral and body posture, but my face seems to go back to square one.

I want to be able to see the progress of my face coming along every day. Do I need to push myself more?

Also coming up to the year mark by the way in my mewing journey by the way.

I know the feeling of dysphoria you describe. The best help? Document your pictures and compare them after a few months. You’ll see change, and it’s going to be years to see how far you can push yourself - even in Children the pics are of over years of change. Hope that helps!

Don't forget that if you are mewing, your face is changing constantly in ways we can't always measure. I have these days, too, and it took a realization that the pressure I was using with parts of my tongue was different than before, and so different muscles were either getting worked or reverting to previous states.

In my own experience, I don't think it's bone, I think it's muscle that is creating these changes in the mirror. Also, light makes a huge difference in how we look. The same time in the same spot,  even an inch one way or the other can cast shadow or highlight parts of our face in different ways.

Our brain isn't a reliable record keeper. And still images are very difficult to recreate.

I could also argue that you might not actually be in the same oral or body posture. There might be something you're doing, not doing, or doing less of that makes a bigger impact than you realize.

This has pretty much exclusively been my experience.

I've had the same problem for years, particularly with having scleral show on and off. When it isn't there, I don't think I look that terrible, but once it pops up and won't go away, my whole face looks hideous and extra recessed. As far as I can tell, I actually haven't gotten any noticeable results in over 2 years, so I don't know which muscles are causing it to keep changing.

@PaperBag

Have you taken any pictures?

As far as I go, I have seen great change in my lower third so far and also in some bone that seems to be coming in the sides of my nose, as if my nose is more "in" my face now.

My chin has advanced forward relative to my forehead as well indicating mandibular adjustments caused my maxilla position change.

No one else can notice these on me as my overall face is still the same. I know my proportions have changed for the better however. I have been ttold I look more matured and refined though

@Meltcel

Yes, I've taken photos over time but was nonchalant about lighting/position, etc.. because I have never felt like I am getting results so there was never a need to get direct comparisons. Maybe there are some minute differences between 2016 and now, but not enough to care. Probably a good reason to get checked for tongue tie, which is the plan before chasing anything else. Are your changes just from the tongue posture?

@krollic I have been doing it since November 2017.

@PaperBag my changes are increased chin prominence, a stronger lower third, and a wider palate. Also my face seems more flanged.

My best improvement has been in the prominence of my lower third.

Now it has been a short time but I have a long way to go. Have you been chewing as well? I have been eating harder foods as well. I don't buy gum or anything but the foods I eat are much harder than I used to and I also make sure to chew counterclockwise and clockwise.  My changes then have been from dropping mouthbreathing, tongue positioning, and adopting a new chewing pattern. I also mew in my sleep.
