Hi everyone,
im a mid 30s male and had recently my MSE consultation. Now im considering whether to start MSE treatment or not. I don´t NEED MSE for health purposes, altough it would be nice to improve nasal breathing, of course.
My question is: How big are the overall aesthic improvments for adults? (especially male adults). Unfortunately it seems there are very few well documented cases in the internet. I would be very interested to see before/ after pictures with after pictures being 1+ year after finishing MSE treatment. In theory the improved tongue space and better nasal breathing should improve facial features over time even more.
Any insights here from people, who had MSE treatment? Should i start it? (my doctor said 10mm intermolar width improvement is realistic).
Thanks!

Other than the wider smile, aesthetic changes are subtle. I'm a man about your age and my suture successfully separated, but there's a significant risk of failure for cases with our demographics. Asymmetric expansion is common and can sometimes make the face look worse than it started. I'm happy with the health improvements, but I wouldn't recommend it for purely aesthetic purposes.
@Apollo This is a bit puzzling to me. For example, comparing Ronald Ead, whose face I think improved significantly from 10 mm of expansion, to the results of this guy, who expanded a little less(8mm) but seemed to have had very small changes. Could 2 mm matter that much? Seems unlikely to me, although it would explain the differences in outcome. By how much did you expand now again? And how much did it change your face, by your estimation?

I guess this is one of those subjective "eye of the beholder" kind of things. For me, both Ronald Ead and Evan Lavizadeh look like examples of what I described: obviously wider smiles, with subtle other general aesthetic improvements, maybe a little fuller cheekbones. I think the changes in my face fall in that same range of vaguely better. I expanded 10mm. However, I think there's bound to be individual variation in the degree of change even from the same amount of expansion. Here's another well-documented but indistinct result posted on reddit. He estimates that he did 6-7mm of expansion, but also says he made about 80 turns, which equates to 10.67mm on an MSE. He describes his changes:
"Yeah my cheekbones are noticeably wider. Not related to MSE directly but my face has more definition now since I learned how to swallow correctly. And we're talking like maybe only a month or two of doing it properly. My lower third was puffier before. I used to think I had a pretty wide lower jaw but really all it was just a disproportionately narrow midface. Hopefully I can achieve some forward growth now. Dramatically restoring one aspect of your face (lateral) is amazing but I'd like the full kitten caboodle y'know. I probably look a little unbalanced (though I'm obviously into this kinda shit more than the average person), but I'd take that possibility and being able to breathe better any day. I like the changes personally."
"Yes pretty substantially. I'm still able to breathe better out of one nostril than the other, but now the other isn't just completely useless like it was previously. Stamina is better and my sleep is night and day."
I assume the rest of the face will slowly remodel after MSE expansion.
