I think of mewing as placing the tongue on roof of the mouth, closing lips, keeping teeth in light contact, swallowing correctly, and chewing gum.

When did you learn about mewing and start doing it? Have you seen any improvements since then?

I personally learned about it one year ago from claiming power blog while researching forward head posture. The subject really fascinated me because 8 years before I had orthodontics that messed up my face. So much of what CP wrote reflected my experience, though luckily I never lost more than my wisdom teeth.

So nine months ago I decided to start mewing. Three months after I started orthodontic treatment with Damon braces to expanded my palate and reverse the reto inclination of my upper front teeth. I started with 34.5mm inter-molar width and now I am at 36mm. A very modest improvement for six months of braces but nonetheless it made a noticeable difference. I can now squeeze my tongue in my upper palate and somewhat swallow correctly.

I can't say how this has specifically improved my health, as I started mewing along with many health related changes in my life including working on my overall posture and fixing my diet etc. My health has improved over the last year, but I still have some way to go, especially with reducing snoring. There is one benefit that I can attribute to mewing, though, and that is my lower jaw. It has moved forward almost closing the 3mm over-jet I had. This has improved my profile and reduced the clicking in my tmj.

What is your experience?

I'm still at the beginning of it, my luck that I'm still young, I hope that more ahead I have good results with effort and dedication.

I wanted to see more photos of before and after users of this forum, this would help to motivate people more, but respect the option of not wanting to show the face

I just looked at my side profile pics and noticed the support around my eyes has really increased in the last 6 months. My eyes seem further set back in my skull so my eyelashes don't stick out as much. They used to stick out almost past my nose bridge. Now they are set further back and my glasses do not sit close to my eyeballs like they did after my braces came off.

My lips used to pout a lot. It made me self conscious as I felt I looked feminine. Now they have stopped projecting as much. If I draw a line from my nose tip to my chin my lips are significantly behind that line compared to when the braces came off (they used to almost touch the line). The great thing about this is it has not come with a longer philtrum which I was afraid of. Because of this my lips have lost no fullness, only their unnatural duck pout. My mandible has come forward more in the Frankfort plane and my face has gotten wider due to palate expansion pushing my cheeks out.

My dorsal hump is also almost fully gone. I no longer have to hide my face with a beard since my face looks wide and more taut/square. I used to be horsefaced but mewing has practically rid me of that condition. My lower third height is much improved making me look less underdeveloped.

I also from postural changes have increased my height. People are seeming shorter now.

I will get some pics for youse when I get the chance. I have to edit them to show the changes (not morph them but draw lines to point to where the changes have happened most).

I don't even call it mewing anymore but just proper posture. This is how we are supposed to stand and position ourselves.

Oh and I want to add my face has gotten more taut and my cheeks have lost their thickness. No I have no hollow cheeks but maybe in the future. I will mention I chew with my mouth closed as well and still my buccinators have atrophied.

bunch of bs. No way "mewing" made you taller and fixed your hook nose

Ok pal

P.s. I attribute me being taller to standing properly and not to tongue positioning necessarily . I don't think I have gained any vertical increase, but rather standing properly and not slouching makes one physically taller. In other words I am just standing to me proper height as slouching makes everyone shorter.

I will add one small detail that I think will interest you. I used to breath from my mouth while sleeping often but never realized that because I confused it with acid reflex symptoms. Since having a somonplasty to shrink the size of my turbinates and changing the way I clean my house I stopped mouth breathing almost completely.
