Does anyone have any before and after or even progress photos of a patient using Won Moon's Maxillary Skeletal Expander with a face mask? I've seen photos without face mask therapy because those photos are excellent examples of correcting crossbites...but none involving a face mask.
Since the mid-palatal sutures would be separating using this device, it would be advantageous to combine this therapy with a face mask for effective maxillary protraction. And since it will pull the maxilla up and forwards, or whatever direction your doctor configures for your specific case...it may also exhibit even some slight changes to the nose's physical appearance. We see some changes to the nose when orthognathic surgery is performed on a patient when the surgeon advances the entire maxilla forward...so I am wondering how profound of a change MSE will exhibit to the nose with using a FM.

That article from nih.gov elaborates on the applications of this skeletal expander in conjunction with face mask therapy. Two of the orthodontists I met with here in Florida will be traveling to his conference in Los Angeles and they will be kind to discuss my case with him in person.
@Varbrah on this forum was also kind to tell me his positive progress with MSE, so we should all be happy for him. It's nice to know we can get at least some positive results with maxillary protraction using this device. This form of MARPE is a game changer for sure.
I am trying to find out how big these changes are if a patient uses a Face Mask. Orthognathic (double jaw) surgery are usually reserved for more extreme cases of retrognathia or seriously recessed jaws and that's not me. But my problem more lies with lack of anterior-posterior spacing for my tongue and this is for sure fixed with orthognathic surgery, but with Won Moon's MSE using a face mask?
Also, MSE is still in its infancy, at least in the applications of improving the upper airway; this device is primarily targeting patients with crossbites, malocclusion. Hopefully the dentists and orthos attending his conferences in the Pacific coast (and globally) will be more cognizant of the applications of this device to improve the upper airway.
can find some before and after photos in Won Moon's published articles: hard to know what was caused by MSE and what by facemask. MSE will lead to l.4 mm expansion of nasal bones at nostrils (each); however, I have been told by an MSE provider that this change will not be visible in the soft tissue.
one concern would be whether either treatment will create or exacerbate TMD issues: see article on PFM. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5848518/
Any MSE users have any TMD issues to report following either MSE or facemask?
