HEy ,

Well I'm here because I seem to have all the classic symptoms , weak jaw, only a little maxilla growth, long nose, sloping forehead and long face with a fWHR of 1.46 , but the roof of my mouth is quite wide and quite tall/deep especially at the front behind the top teeth, my top teeth are wider than my bottom teeth and my jaw needs to come forward ( be longer) and . This makes it hard to get the tongue to contour along the shape of the roof of the mouth, especially at the back I end up "sucking it" to the roof which I can't hold for more than a second.

How much pressure should be used to hold it in place, my tounge is pretty tired after 30 seconds or so so Im guessing thats too much.?

It needs to stay there habitually , like 24/7 ?

I find it easier to compress chewing gum along the middle of the palate but I worry about choking on it, LOL

There is no "too much".  You're tired and sore after 30 seconds not because it's too much but because you are not used to it. There's almost no point to just keeping you're tongue on the roof of the mouth; the only way to make real change is if the tongue is PUSHING on the roof of the mouth. You're tongue should be stuck on the roof of your mouth 24/7, at least that's the goal. Reality is although it sounds simple it's quite hard. Changing bone is not actually difficult in theory but changing a habit that you've had for ALL your life is very difficult. A lot of people make the mistake of trying to force the tongue up there consciously however this is a mistake. There simply is no way to maintain this IF you do not have proper head and body posture. BODY POSTURE AND HEAD POSTURE IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR IN TONGUE POSTURE. Try tucking in your chin as much as you can and you'll feel the back of your tongue pushing up on your palate. Try getting a suction by "sucking" the saliva in your mouth repeatedly with your tongue and swallowing. Just some advice on achieving proper body posture and head posture is to stretch "stressed" muscles while strengthening underused ones. For example for head posture you might want to try stretching the back of your neck while strengthening the inside with head curls. Body posture you might want to try strengthening the core and glutes whiles stretching out the hip flexors. Remember it's not just about strengthening but making it a HABIT so you must try to maintain proper posture for as long as possible

I agree with a lot of what @sinned said, but I don't agree that keeping your tongue on the roof of your mouth is pointless unless you are actively pushing. I think the objective is to gradually build up the resting muscle tone of your tongue, and masseters, and improve the space on your palate for the tongue to engage so that this sustained force increases over time. Don't get discouraged if your tongue gets tired from actively pushing against the palate for 30 seconds. It's still worthwhile to work on improving your oral posture.

I totally agree; I'm just referring to people who think they can make change without putting effort trying to get the tongue pushing 24/7.
