Chewing should adhere to any other muscle exercise protocol.

Why exceptions here?

chew for 1 hour,

chew for 30 minutes,

What the hell? Yes we chewed lot of foods for millennia but that doesn't mean we need to continue chewing for millennia.

I mean where chewing is concerned the only reason I can see that we're chewing for long periods of time is that we lack progressive variables. We have no other loading options except time increase...? Otherwise it makes absolutely no sense to be grinding for hours? It's just muscle there and there is no reason to believe these particular muscles adhere to different principles.

time, tempo, reps, "weights",

it should require very little investment.

Yes chewing is good. But we need clarity over what is necessary.

I agree. Go hard until your jaw muscles are sore and go again the next day or whenever your jaw has recovered.

I don't know about that. Auto Mechanics have developed strong wrist flexors/extensors just from repetition over time. It isn't like they count reps or sets or weight and neither do lumberjacks who develop strong back muscles.

Time under tension is still inducing hypertrophy. Not like you have to continuously chew until bricks feel soft.
