I read this study that shows how important a caloric surplus is in the maturation process of rats but after maturation even with caloric restriction there was no harm in bone density, in fact, it shows that by consuming less calories the effects of skeletal aging and bone turnover are reduced. I am 24, and have been vegan since I was 22, I try to eat the most I can in one meal due to following an OMAD (one meal a day) protocol over the past year. Because some recent digestive and gut related illnesses I´ve been eating more fruits than anything else, some weeks I only eat one fruit meal a day and sometimes I fast for a couple of days without any food and numerous times I have done dry fasts (no water).
I wonder if all of this different eating protocols might be having a negative effect in the process of changing my facial bone structure, how important is really a caloric surplus after maturation? what about aminoacids and specific nutrients for bone support? please do not answer if you have not read about the effects of fasting in overall human health and longevity.
here´s the study

Your recent problems demonstrate how you are already destroying your health with veganism and other dietary fads. Fasting, dietary restrictions, caloric deficit, they will all only bring you down further. The single most important thing for growth and wellbeing is to eat enough. Quality of nutrition comes second. Your biological utility is to convert energy from one form to another. The less energy you get, the less you will function, as you have already noted.
I dont think different eating protocols make much of a difference unless you are not in severe caloric deficit (i.e. more than one day of fasting, or more than 400 kcal a day deficit - you run at risk here). It's been proven that there is not much of a difference in muscle growth of gym goers eating between 2 and 5 meals a day. It probably doesnt really matter what kind of food you eat if you supply all necessary nutrients and eat sufficient enough (tho the first part would be harder on junk diet). I suspect bone remodeling is governed by slightly different laws than muscle growth (would expect it to be easier for body to do that than grow muscle?). Fasting (again not more than 1 day, if any I would recommend intermittent fasting) can boost HGH, but does this kind of a boost makes a difference in bone or muscle growth? I dont know.
If you are on "fruit diet" you run a risk of not getting sufficient nutrients (amino acids, vit b12, vit d3), and fasting so long youre risking your body eating itself for energy purposes.

Let me get this straight, so assuming I start a cutting diet of 1500 kcals per day (I'm 5'11" 160lbs for reference) this will significantly lower bone remodeling efficiency?

Where did you come up with this 1500 number? That seems frighteningly low for someone so thin . is this a protein sparing modified fast? At 160 5'11 what makes you want to drop weight anyway? I assume you are male?
Before this forum I was also pretty actively involved in Bodybuilding forums and that general sphere on Youtube, so I aim to gain muscle while also trying to achieve very low body fat. In fact, muscle synthesis is more efficient at low body fat, so it makes sense to do that first.

How low of bodyfat though? There is a diminished rate of return at very low ranges. Also, very hard to gain muscle on 1500 calories. But if you are roiding then disregard what I am saying
The point is that It's a cutting phase, whereas a bulking phase would be at a caloric surplus (a controlled one). And yes, anything under 3% for men is considered dangerous, so in the range of 5 to 8% is ideal, whereas 10% is good for general purposes.
I should mention this is obviously talking on a much higher level of standards, as just being at 10% body fat is already better than 90% of the population.

I get you boyo but I am saying that 1)gaining on 1500 calories isn't realistically very feasible unless you are a newbie or on roids and 2)getting to single digits doesn't actually make nutrient partitioning any more efficient. Hormones are not optimized at the very low levels
Losing weight is hard to do if we're stressed. I've tried so many diets and exercises, but all of them are not effective to lose some pounds. You can minimize your body's production of cortisol by simply by learning to relax. And if you need a little help doing this, medical marijuana could become your new best friend. Especially if it can shrink your waistline in the process. It can help you in terms of chronic pain, bone injuries, eating disorder/anorexia, anxiety disorders and panic attacks, inflammation, even cancer and a lot more.Nowadays, there are several products of cannabis created, not only for smoking. Like this one http://www.ilovegrowingmarijuana.com/bananas/ . So far, it really helps me to relax and I can see that there's a changes in my weight. If you have any questions or opinions please let me know. Thanks!
