Has anyone with expansion experienced this? Strangely enough it's my bottom wisdom tooth that is starting to erupt while my expander is an upper. I just think it was closer to eruption than the others

I'm in my 20s I figured it wouldn't have come up, but it makes sense that the Jaw just expands

Most definitely. Is it erupting correctly or causing issues for you? In underdeveloped jaws these teeth can sometimes turn sideways, it is important to prevent the teeth causing infection if they are impacted.

How would you prevent that? My wisdom tooth isn't coming out but it's starting to have pains and it may come all the way out if I end up with 1cm of expansion

A collection of some of the reports that I've noticed on this topic:

I've read a few anecdotes about wisdom teeth beginning to erupt after starting to practice Mewing/palate expansion, sometimes asymmetrically. Someone called Gray who frequently comments on the orthotropics youtube videos and has his own channel with a few videos on the subject had this experience if I remember correctly.

Here's the video from Gray where he talks about his wisdom tooth erupting:

TGW also mentioned his wisdom teeth erupting during expansion:

I completely forgot to mention in the article that my lower wisdom teeth are erupting! They're jammed slightly, but they seem to be gaining more and more space and uprighting themselves.

Anyone else have wisdom teeth come in pretty late as a result of mewing and using an expander? One tooth has completely erupted (but it's not upright yet, needs more space) while the other is reall close. I'm 26 so this must be jaw expansion AFAIK

I can give my experience too. Keep on mind, that I'm not sure if it was a coincidence.

I started Mewing correctly (with the whole tongue) like 4 years ago. Aprox. 1 year later, when I was more or less 28 years old, my upper wisdom teeth started to erupt (I never had the lower ones). I don't remember anymore whether they were impacted or not, but my dentist strongly recommended me to let them be extracted -because otherwise my bite would be ruined again, after all the work we had invested on it.

So I don't have them anymore, which I deeply regret. I did research at the time; many people complained about facial changes after wisdom tooth extraction, but I had only a couple of months before travelling abroad long term and had to decide very fast.

But even if it is ideal to have wisdom teeth, sometimes there are side effects. I read somewhere that someone's wisdom teeth broke one of his second molars -But I don't think that is very common. He probably didn't have enough space. So at least you have an expander to aid with that.

I think all 4 of mine came in sometime around my late teens or early 20's, I definitely wasn't mewing back then and had a mouth breathing childhood. Despite not exactly having a wide palate (quite narrow although not as narrow as some), they all came in straight. I had a little bit of minor crowding on the lower arch, but absolutely no crowding on the upper arch. In fact when I had veneers done a few years ago the dentist told me my upper arch spacing was absolutely perfect.

I don't know how I lucked out like this. I recently read that having all 4 come through with space left to spare is a Neanderthal trait. I have lots of other Neanderthal traits as well (including an occipital bun) so maybe there's something in it.

Interesting, my brother did a DNA test a couple of years ago, and it came out that he his percentage of Neanderthal DNA was less than that of most people. So I suppose it's not very different in my case (?) But I'm not sure whether his wisdom teeth were extracted or not.
