How strong should I push up on my palate?

Some people are proponents of "hard mewing " wherein they apply force consciously on the maxilla throughout the day. Others like me just let the tongue rest on the palate roof with minimal force.

I'm starting push harder these days because my palate has expanded and I don't get as much of the dreaded "bulge". Pushing harder is better for increasing IMW speed imo

I am uninformed on this topic so I want to ask: What do you mean with the "dreaded bulge"? Are you talking about what others have called the "monkey face" effect? As in protrusion of the dental arches alone instead of forwards development of the entire maxilla (including the dental arches, the cheekbones etc)?

Are you saying that some people pushing with force may produce this bulge you are talking about?

Or are you saying that pushing upwards with force has reduced this bulge-look in you?

when you mew hard you should notice that the area under your jaw/chin expands. back when my palate was narrow and shallow pushing on my palatte made this bulge really obvious so i didn't hard mew. now that my palate has expanded quite a bit i'm more comfortable with hard mewing because i don't get this bulge as much

I see. I thought you were talking about something else.

Yeah, I have noticed this issue as well.

I was watching a video by Dr. Mew and he briefly mentioned that with his patients, he aims for 1mm expansion a week and that rapid maxillary expansion beyond that can be quite damaging.

I just started mewing about a month ago and I'm still trying to figure out a fair balance between conscious mewing( hard mewing) and subconscious mewing( suctioning the tongue on the top of the palate).

In my mind, hard mewing to a degree makes sense for adults past the ages of puberty. Also, hard mewing can feel rewarding like hard work but it can be misleading as changes in the face don't necessarily mean aesthetic progress.
