TL;DR is right here with the 2 pictures:

It's only on the right side. This picture illustrate perfectly where the trigger point is.
It is right behind the ramus, right under the ear. There's a hard bulge, but mind you I don't have this bulge on the left (not painful) side, or I feel it but deeper.
It doesn't seem to be the mastoid process since if I understand correctly is more here
When I press that trigger point (first picture), screeching sounds in my ear (tinnitus) + temporary diminished audition and of course pain.
It is triggered when I chew "a lot" during one or two days, classic chewing gums or tough foods. I take days to recover that strain.
The symptoms when chewing on this side are tinnitus, hyperacousia, "locked" jaw feeling on the right side that implies asymetry when I speak, lots of discomfort, automatic crying/tears on the right eye when it's too tensed, highly painful/locked right side neck with "cold" sensations and ofc impossibility to chew.

More to the story:
Well this has been on for years now.
I need to know what it is. I have seen multiples experts, with multiples answers. Once it is fibrosis, another time a displaced Atlas cervical, another time the mastoid process etc.
I have had it for at least 6 years now, it started with the melting process and has reduced from musculation correct posture etc and reverse-degeneration.
Initially, this was triggered H24 with normal food or just stress clenching.
This is present only on my highly melting side and prevented me from chewing on this side for years.
Also my jaw is now shorter (in a bad way) and more childish on this side, as well as my right eye.
What have I tried ?
- Not hard chewing, works, until one day you eat a tough food randomly (some sandwiches might be sufficient sometimes) and bang. And it doesn't solve the weak side, which I need to chew on !
- Stretching, weird stretchings involving the tongue and the eyes, neck stretching etc. Really does help when there's too much tension. Doesn't solve the problem tho !
-Orthopedic soles for foot arch support, been 3 months now. My degenerescence could have been aggravated by bad hip placing etc. I don't see difference on chewing stamina.
- Jaw musculation: works a bit to push the moment where it starts to be too strained, but there's still strain.
I have the feeling that this IS the cause of my 6 years-lasting tinnitus/ hyperacousia etc. I've looked up on internet to see what were at this place on the anatomy, and there seems to be the mastoid (a bit behind), and MAYBE an atlas process ? The kinds of wings on the vertebrae.
Also I found good information on MSKNeurology (HIGHLY recommended lectures - essential actually if you want to understand all this missunderstood stuff https://mskneurology.com/association-tinnitus-neck-tmj/ )
showing that my condition is understood (by some). And I know I'm still degenerated on the right side, but it has been 3 dimensions better since the start and I feel like I could put a term to that suffering know, just need to understand what the next step is.
My TMJ-expert dentists is 100% sure my right tmj is not compromised anymore, it has healed from an "irreducible dislocation" initially. The joint has 500% more mobility than before.
However I feel like all these years put a "sleep mode" to my pterygoids, muscles that protract the lower jaw forward during mastication & speaking. This lack of protraction (all explained on MSKNeurology, link above) causes some nerves to be stacked and joint as well. Problem is, I TRY to train my pterygoids, BUT this pain appear and I just can't. When it is there, it is impossible to protract more than few mm the right side due to it being too strained & painful.
Well, these are almost all of the puzzle pieces I have, if someone could add more... It would by amazing.
I'd need someone who knows the anatomy to tell me what is there exactly. Feel free to ask precisions, and thanks a lot if you read it until here !!!!!!!!
Btw if I heal it I shit on all the expert ENTs that told me it was non-reversible and it couldn't have a mecanical cause
Just start using your lungs more.
3kms runs everyday, some stretching, gum chewing and pranayama breathing.
Do it for a month and relax and de-stress as much as you can.
Its all about breathing.
Forcing mewing Will cause more pathologies, TMJ issues and unnatural breathing patterns.
Stop wasting your time and go see a professional that os airway focused and understands this.
I dont want to sound rude but more than half the people on this forum sound like they put their lives on hold due to CFD as an excuse not to live and breathe freelee. Kinda sounds like body dysmorphia.
And this is coming from a guy with a complex CFD case.
