How does one achieve this? Its really about contracting that muscle while swallowing or mewing or something else?
Contracting what muscle? Also yes, it's just mewing, nothing magical. If you're asking about specifics then it would probably be the posterior third or back of the tongue that upswings the maxilla.
@sinned how so? Mike mew in a recent video with koko has stated that the middle and tip of the tongue holds pushes with the most power. And if you think of the back of the maxilla like a point of leverage wouldn’t it be easily to upswing the maxilla by pushing on the rugae/incisive papilla?
My opinion has changed since then. Yes, I do think that it's the front of the tongue that causes upswing/forward growth, but I don't think the tongue is strong enough unless you're absolutely obsessive about it. I think upswing is cause by the protraction of the whole midface, is that possible with the tongue? Perhaps if you were obsessively doing it all day it would be possible. Also, Mike Mew is wrong that the front of the tongue pushes with the most force, it's the back of the tongue, this is according to studies that measure tongue force.
@sinned by obsessing, are you implying hard mewing at the tip 24/7 or doing it 24/7 with light force
@sinned On a side note: If I recall correctly, Mike stated that the tip has the most potential to affect the maxilla because of its relative position, not because it is more powerful.
thats really interesting. I definitely noticed people with thin lips have different personalities.
my uncle and grandpa have thin lips whereas dad has bigger lips. My uncle and grandpa are much more motivated harsh and driven people
