Does anybody else get ridges into the gums where the palate expander is pushing against it? Secondly, I'm getting deep ridges on my left side and not as much on my right, which seems to imply that the left side is getting more pressure.
A question for everyone who had the expander already: Do you feel a little ridge along your gums when you take it out? The expander doesn't touch the suture of my mouth, it pushes approximately 2-3 cm above my teeth. Along this point it leaves a ridge in the gums which slowly fades away. Seems normal, but I just want to check
I remember @irmathurma mentioning the same thing ( /community/community/main-forum/palate-expander-update/# ) and maybe other users. I could only guess about the difference between sides. Do you have any asymmetry of your dental midline? Maybe the side where the expander leaves more of an indentation is harder to move because it is already farther from your true midline while the opposite side has less resistance because it has more room to shift into its proper place?
I had the same issue but that's because I was expanding more on one side than the other initially (my right side is less developed). Are you doing it evenly?
I have a similar issue where I feel a protruding retromolar bump on one side only. But I have not started using the expander yet. retromolar bump is hard and protrudes more on the weaker, more painful side. I am not sure what that means or if I need to pay attention.
