Progress is a moderator espousing hard Mewing?!  You guys - you know better... the reason why people get headaches is from condile issues.  If you jam your maxilla up.... it creates excess space between jaw arches that is challenging to keep teeth touching.  The reason why is your ramus is still the same shape and length.  So, if this is a site of real Progress... then 3D CBCT overlay indicating changes in jaws/arches and the like will show he detriment to your heath.  Are you offering to pay for my braces, Progress?

You guys are welcome to believe and try anything you want - it’s your face.  But you just wait.  If you lack access to 3D to see your condile heath... know it is associated with migraines, visual sensitivity to light, popping, painful jaws, etc.  before that, you may likely see your smile showing less and less of your upper teeth as your face squishes in on itself.

You are making bold claims - can you back it up?

Please share your CBCTs, we would like to have a discussion but we need something more concrete to your claims.

Dude no one is making you hard mew lol. Also, Mike Mew himself says that most issues to the condyle are caused my chewing marathons that build up the outer U. That's why he recommends tongue chewing.

Btw, the olympic athlete that trains hard everyday will be prone to more injury but will also make greater progress than the guy who works out every other Tuesday.

Isn't hard mewing only a problem if you're doing it wrong in the first place? 🤔

Absolutely.  My pleasure.  I plan to get a follow-up CBCT and overlay them.  :-)

Until you do, how about you stop creating multiple threads and cluttering the forum...

If you have proof - that's great - let's see it - until then your posts mainly just come across as ramblings

Good degenerescence.

No really, I mean changes take time to occur. It feels like you woke up this morning with open bite and you feel like it's the end of the story. First, I don't see how an open bite would occur just by "lifting the maxilla up", IMO you could have mewed the wrong way and pushed your upper incisors with your tongue outward and upward, as open bites usually develop.

Second, you're on an kind of experimental journey. It's not as if you developped sudden pain in your jaw or anything, for now it is just visual. Everyone who start their journey should be ready to observe some changes, especially on occlusion.

@darkindigo, I had an open bite ten years ago, because my lips were weak and because of my tongue thrust. I also didnt rest the tongue on the roof of the mouth. Mewing has helped me prevent a relapse. Mewing is just a name actually, for something that already exists -since decades as a therapy and even more as a natural process-  and has been been recommended by many dentists and orthodontists, so stop blaming Mike Mew.

I think he actually deserves to name the correct tongue posture after his name, since he is trying to inform everyone despite risking his career.

If you have serious side effects or have lack of results, you are doing something wrong.

@darkindigo In another thread you said:

I am super surpised by people who they keep pushing their mandible and maxilla apart with their tongue that it won't givem them a skeletal open bite.

Is this an accurate description of your technique? If so, it doesn't surprise me that you are running into problems. What you are doing sounds very awkward. The tongue is not some kind of antagonistic force between the jaws. Rather, it is meant to complement the function of the jaws. All you need to do is to press the tongue against the palate. Using the tongue to push mandible and maxilla apart... forget about that. It's not what we or Mew have told you to do.

Skeletal vs dental.

Tongue posture is also assessed and corrected in cases of skeletal open bites.

I really dont know what went wrong there and I feel sorry for you, but that doesnt mean its Mike Mews fault.

How do you know there is a limit to the ramus axis? How do you know the mandible will stop where it is instead of moving up with the maxilla? I mean, people close their mouths in a regular basis, the masseteres should fix it naturally with time (?).

I know this is just anecdotal evidence (like the person who's trying to inform everyone in this thread) but I've had tremendous success with mewing and I think it's because I've been obsessed with my oral posture and general posture due to my health history and back surgery and to discover a lot of it stemmed from incorrect orthodontics saddens me. But the pro to all this is I've been hardmewing religiously since July of this year and I have not taken an asthma inhaler for the first time in my life ... in about 6-7 months. It's because of the increased airway space and how my maxilla is no longer collapsed. I also no longer have the jaw clicks I used to have and my occlusion overall is much better. I'm just speaking from a health standpoint right now but the actual esthetic improvement from mewing is ridiculous, my face looks so much younger and healthier and I get treated differently by people.

My point with all of this is.... to take what everyone says on the internet with a grain of salt.  I think mewing is natural and hardmewing may not be, but to undo the 10-15+ years of not having proper oral posture and then see it slowly shift back to normal alongside my face symmetry, to me is probably the most important piece of information I've ever stumbled upon on the internet. Bless Mike Mew.
