Should you keep your tongue up when you smile/laugh? Especially when I laugh, I drop my tongue. Is this ok?

Laughing is no different from talking, the tongue has to be dropped. I don't have issues keeping tongue up whilst smiling.

Shouldn’t smiling encourage correct tongue posture, isn’t that why the ”cheesy smile” exercises exist?

I think the cheesy smile is to help teach you how to swallow without using your facial muscles. There is also the "very very cheesy swallow" and the "Mona Lisa swallow".  Which all do help encourage proper tongue posture as well I suppose.
