What causes the browridge aka supraorbital ridge to grow? I theorize that testosterone actually has minimal effect on its growth and that something else may influence it. The reason I believe this is that I see plenty of women in real life with a browridge and some men with none. There are also two people I know in real life who are brothers. They are High T. The older brother had a square jaw which I rarely ever see in real life with a heavy stubble. His browridge is not very prominent. His brother is in the same situation, good lower jaw but no browridge. What could possible cause this? I also read somewhere that bone is laid down on the browridge to resist the force of the temporalis muscle during mastication?

Can't be testosterone because Dwayne Johnson has practically every high T feature and good bone development but 0 brow ridge to speak of. I have often wondered this myself. Some grown men literally have no brow whatsoever. I wish I knew.

The good news is IMO that as far as aesthetics are concerned it has no effect on them. Many guys without a brow ridge can have pretty boy appeal. A good face can have a weak or no brow, but seldom does a good face have a weak jaw because the jawbones will throw off full facial harmony. I think the brow and the chin (pogonion to be precise) don't affect the face this way.

Couldn't it be that testosterone promotes brow-ridge growth if the person in question has the genetic potential for more brow-ridge development? - and that Dwayne Johnson for whatever reason just doesn't have this potential (lack of muscle in that area, perhaps)?

This.

Even square jaws cannot be attributed to high T as people with high T have been observed plenty with weak and angular jaws. Take Hulk Hogan for example.

Square jaws could be observed in people/countries which consume a predominantly hard food diet. This makes sense because I once read in a study that ramus length increased with the size of the masetters which in turn increases with the masticatory force applied.

I believe what causes brow ridge growth is forward growth of the maxilla. Because I have a high T face but because my maxilla is recessed and lengthen. My face is longer and the cheekbones with the orbital ridges follow down with the maxilla. You can imagine this that if the maxilla came down, the eye sockets and cheekbones that support the eyes open up with less support due to a lack of forward growth on the maxilla.

Also I think having stronger masseter muscles produces a stronger brow ridge due to the fact that ideally the brow ridge should match ramus length of its angle. The higher the gonial angle; the shorter your ramus. Which leads compression of the posterior face and lengthen of the anterior of the face. Which ironically is the same arch type of a face of someone who has imbalance on their jaw muscles and mastication muscles, and lacks forward growth of the maxilla.
