Ive been mewing for around a year and lately ive been reading about maxilla upswing which is what i believe i need. I know that depending on your situation you should focus more on either pushing with the front of tongue or focus on pushing up on the back 3rd more. So what do you think i should focus on to bring my lower jaw forward?

Is your palate narrow ? Overbites tend to happen because the narrow triangulated maxilla doesn't allow the mandible to come forward to meet the front teeth

Yeah Great question, I actually have the same question.

I have a pretty wide face, from the front I would say the same as when Olivia Wilde and Selena Gomez would have a baby. Also my palate is pretty wide.

The front of my face looks amazing, I would rate me a 10 lol. I would give my profile a 4 however, my jaw is very much in the back. Don’t need to become wider. Should I push forward only?

my teeth (row from the side) are pretty straight/not facing downwards (don’t think my face will get longer if I push forward if I am correct)

any input is welcome

you should be doing mckenzie chin tucks religiously. it pushes the jaw forward. try doing it and you can feel how it forces your jaw in that direction. I have a normal bite so when I do it I feel my bottom incisors press against my upper ones which is good.

I would also recommend really developing your masseter with chewing exercises. I noticed that when my jaw muscle started to get bigger it not only applied more pressure upwards in a resting state but also forwards.

Pushing sideways won't necessarily make your face wider unless you have the genetic potential for it. Tongue positioning fixes problems that are there so if you already have a wide palate don't be afraid of it getting wider . It probably won't. It isn't like there is an unlimited level of growth you can achieve. The limit is how big your tongue is really.

Also do you have severe overjet or just a deep bite?

Thx @eddiemoney

my overjet is something like 0.4/0.5 mm, so not super severe.

when I relax my jaw, I have no overjet, it is straight, but this is not how I chew.

My jaw and chin is pretty small and in the back. I can never get fat haha, my face just melts in my neck if I gain a few kilo’s.

I am able to move my jaw forward by myself by 1.5 cm, and I notice I do that when I am in social settings. But it’s annoying and takes a lot of effort, I just want to be normal you know.

I do however, have some cheekbones going on. I have noticed them getting bigger with mewing so far :)

So sounds like you have a deep bite if I read it correctly?

no when ive tried to measure my palate width it seems to be 40 mm from the first molars, i use to grind my teeth really bad until i was like 16 or 17 and i have a tongue tie but ive been mewing for awhile but my lower jaw just wont go forward.

No I don’t really have a deep bite, my lower teeth don’t touch the top part from the inside. And from the outside it only covers less than half.

I just don’t have much lower jaw development together with the fact that my lower jaw is very much in the back. I am guessing I am a high estrogen female since I do have a lot of gynoid fat distribution in my buttocks and breasts, so during puberty not much testosterone for jaw development unforturnately.

When I was 11, I had had a big block brace (unable to eat with it, or talk even lol) for 2 years and wore it everyday religiously for 23 hours a day, after that I had braces for 4 years, lots of remodeling. I am grateful, it improved significantly, just wished I mewed more haha

I think I want to focus more forward, what do you guys think?

(I am 30 now)
