If you suck in your cheeks (to achieve the hollow look) while pushing your tongue upwards against the roof of the mouth, will that strengthen the buccinators or atrophy faster...?
It will cause the buccinators to strengthen and thus hypertrophy. Babies have chubbier cheeks because they only do a sucking motion. Adults who swallow incorrectly (sucking food down) are more likely to have over-developed buccinators and underdeveloped masseters and tongues.
tl;dr: don't
I suspect that suction on the cheeks can serve to slow down expansion, so I do a lot of mew cheesy grins and swallows which help to break any suction seal that may have formed between my teeth and cheeks.
Remember this pain... and let it activate you.
