2.5 years ago i had a perfectly forward grown face. (age 15).
But at this time i started laying in bed while at my laptop, i would lay with my neck and up to the wall in an allmost 90 degree angle while my back and the rest of my body would rest straight at the bed. At the time i didn't have a clue it would effect my facial growth, neither did my parents.
After that and up untill now my mandible and maxilla has elongated/roatated/receeded, and i only noticed recently when it started affecting the general asthethic of my face. (I've also gotten TMJ)
Now im 17 years old (i'll be 18 in 3 months) and as i've mentioned my face is receeding at an alarming rate. Im clueless what to do, i mew as much as i can and chin tuck allmost constantly while at home, but im scared the danmage i've done to my spine wont even be abled to be fixed before i look like a complete ugly potato.
I'll be meeting with a physiotherapist in a couple of days. I'll try to tell him everything, maybe this will be all new for him, since it seems like the only person knowing anything about facial growth is being shut down by the entire medical community.
Attatched is a picture of what i think my spine looks like (possibly a little exagerated), but what im trying to showcase is the huge "bump" at the bottom of my neck, and my horrible posture. In the picture you can also see a "before and after" outlining of my facial growth.
Right now im open for anything to fix the asthethic and function of my face. I've definetly considered maxillofacial surgery (yea i know its kind of a "no no" on this forum, and i fully understand why.)

In this video (if i've interpeted it correctly) Mike talks about the dangers of relapse and how surgery might not be the best option.
But he also mentions that surgeons are getting better at moving the maxilla up and forward in the face, and that surgery might be a valid options if it supports the phremises of orthropics (not completly sure, it was kind of hard to understand).
Maybe if i mew for the next 7-8 years my face will have gotten a tiny bit better looking, but if i can get double the effect by getting surgery (with a tiny chance of relapse), that might just be a better option for me. Ill pay to get the best possible surgeon, ill step up my nutrion, ill do anything to get the best possible outcome. Unmentioned, i also have a slight overbite but i dont know how i feel about telling this to a dentist knowing i will probably get braces, (and maybe get an even more messed up face)
Anyways as i was saying, my back/neck is completely broken and my facial growth is looking elongated and horrible. In my current life situation, this has absolutley taken its toll on me knowing how easily it could've been avoided, but im slowly starting to accept it keeping in mind that there are solutions. I am all tough completely clueless what to do, who to adress, who to trust and generally how to deal with this.
If you have any tips for me on how to fix my face/spine, who to adress with these issues, or generally any input regarding the topic of surgery or facial growth, please share them with me. I am desperate. Also, i live in Norway so if there are any scandinavians here please give me a heads up. 🙂
the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. the second best time is now
Why don't you just work on your posture with stretches and strengthening exercises. Go on you tube there's a bunch of how to videos to correct bad posture, forward neck etc. Consider a generic mouth guard similar to myobrace for sleeping. See an osteopath or chiropractor if money's not an issue. Hope for the best!!! :)
I'm Norweigian... but live in the States. LOL What's your heritage? How big/far is your overbite/overjet. How often do you get outside? Any scoliosis side to side besides the bump? Any tongue tie issue? See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQihz4JOPps&t=4s&app=desktop to see. It says for adults but works for teens. I ask your heritage because there's a reason for it. If tou have darker skin or African heritage then that could explain. Vegetarian or lactose intollerant? You may consider a bone density test or vit d level check. I would suggest seeking help.

Myobrace lengthens the face. It is even in their literature. Perhaps a mytap. Suspect that it would also lengthen the face a bit like MAD appliances that don't allow for teeth to touch should they want to.
