Hi,
I have high nasal resistance and it caused me to have depression for 2 decades, I had low school grade, antisocial, lethargy, poor decision making, lazy,... . Recently I have tried a lot of things including nose jobs, lifting my nose up to increase nasolabial angle so my nasal resistance is decreased, I feel like a different person for 2 weeks but because I am using metal braces so it caused my nasolabial angle to decrease and I feel tired,my nose stuck at night and I feel depressed again. I thought metal braces would help me caused I was using removable braces and it helped me breathe better.
For the first 6 months after 4 teeth extraction and braces( I started braces in Jan-2017) at first my front teeth were tilting backward had helped my upper lips to moved back so my nasolabial angle (or as I call it breathing angle) was increased and I breathe better, before that I had to sleep with humidifier for nearly 10 years and whenever I don't use it, I couldn't sleep, but then gradually as it progressed, it also pulled back my subnasale and cause my nasolabial angle to decrease so I feel tired again.
Thanksfully I only have to deal with high nasal resistance instead of the complication of tongue sitting back during sleep like most of the people who have had teeth extraction. So after tried a lot of thing including breathe right strip, I find that curl up ear cotton swab and then place it to your nostrils so it can expand your nose is the easiest solution for me, then I breathe much better because the nostrils are bigger and nasal resistance decreases, my depression is cured, I am more active, no brain fog and feels better. I want to try palatal expander as a permanent solution but my orthodontist told me I can't expand my palate because it will relapse and my arch width is already big and I can't chew if my palate expands, I don't know if that's true, is there anyone here already has wide palate and can't chew after widening their palate? does it relapse after finished using palatal expander?
Thanks
