So I finally got my y-plate expander shipped out. ~$32 shipping fee. Now, I am unsure of what to do when I get it.
I'm mostly hoping to create room between my teeth so that my right canine can fall back into proper alignment, as I have a "snaggletooth".
Of course, I have been working on oral posture, and I also have more Mastic gum coming in tomorrow, as well as a bottle of vitamin K2+D3 supplements.
Should I wear the expander as much as I can? Or just overnight, so that I can use good oral posture during the day? I've read that you're supposed to do 1mm of expansion per week, so what is the best way to go about doing that? Also how much expansion does someone normally get from this process, and is it noticeable in external appearance?
I've been wearing mine every night and a few hours each day for the past few days. I haven't started turning the screw yet because it didn't feel like it was sitting totally flush against my palate at first, but as the wires between the teeth are causing some separation it is now fitting better and I will start expanding soon. I am open to other suggestions, but my plan is currently to turn the screw once every other day. Since each turn is about 1/4mm, this works out to about 1mm every 8 days. To make it easier to remember which days to turn the screw and to keep to Mew's recommended 1mm every week, I might double up on two consecutive days within a week (e.g. Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday).
