1 year progress (age 21 to 22)

Reddit user: https://www.reddit.com/user/helmutstrebl/

Go to https://www.reddit.com/r/orthotropics/comments/awfvdh/here_is_my_1_year_mewing_progress_from_age_21_to/ to see the comments and visit his original post.

"Here is my 1 year mewing progress from age 21 to 22. I had very positive effects from mewing but a negative one too that I didn’t wanted.

General info:

Positive things i have noticed from Mewing :

  • More prominent brow ridge (I also practice NoFap maybe that helped too)
  • Hooded Eyes
  • My nose got thinner from the front and straighter from the side. Also my nostrils were very uneven but now they are almost symmetrical.
  • Stronger Chin

Negative things that I noticed :

  • Front teeth tilted outwards
  • Literally nothing else

-Mew 24/7 and focus on keeping the back of the tongue up more than the front. -extreme chin tuck. (I walk with double chin in my room for 1-2 hours everyday) -Chewing hard gum for 15-20 minutes every other day. -Also focus on your posture try to keep your glutes and lower abs tight when you’re standing.

Edit : I also hard mew when ever i am alone so that’s like around 2 hours of hard mewing maybe a bit more.

Here's a gif in regards to his change:

I'd highly recommend checking out the replies on his thread as he goes a bit more in depth there and it be too much to all write down here (along with it probably still increasing in replies).

Very promising stuff!

His 1,8 year update: https://www.reddit.com/r/orthotropics/comments/bwqsq1/this_is_my_18_years_of_mewing_progress_left_pic/

This time also added with a front comparison from one of the reply chains: https://imgur.com/a/Y0Y6RZ2

And a video as proof that yes, this is real:

https://imgur.com/a/UXBMl1o

General info:

What i did : • Hard mewing 24/7. I push upwards so hard that the area under my jaw (hyoid) starts burning. Sometimes its difficult to fall asleep for me as i’m mewing so hard. • Proper lip seal. I keep my lips closed with a slight force. • Proper swallowing (watch mike mew’s video on this) • Gum chewing 20-30 minutes everyday. • Chin tucks all the time when i’m alone. • I also work at my body posture and try to stay in good posture while standing and sitting.

Once again, you should check out the reddit thread for more info with his replies and such.

Simply astonishing change.

I'm going to assume that this is all correct so might as well add.

1 year ago, I was taking notes of @helmutstrebl recommendations and his replies to certain questions, this is what I wrote: (You may want to add this to the post @community-lurker)

1. Mew 24/7 (Hard) + (Upward) + (Push evenly) + (Most force on the middle and back third)... Hyoid bone start Burning.

2. Extreme chin tuck (as much as you can) (2-3 hours)... To the point where it stops me from breathing + my arms get numb

3. Gum chewing with cold water 20-30 minutes... Don't chew too much

4. Proper lip seal

5. Proper Swallowing... Try to keep molars together

6. Posture

7. Sleep on back on bed without a pillow..."I am not sure if I am mewing or not while sleeping, but I am sure I breath through my nose and mouth is closed"

8. Trouble breathing when chin tuck + hard mewing

* Don't use the muscle under chin

* You should feel tightness in your masseter muscle

* Molars are in contact for growth of mandible and maxilla both

* Chin tuck...Try to flatten your neck against the wall

* Don't forget to do moderate mewing while sleeping

UPDATE (Late march 2020)

Age: 24

Chewing: Hard gum for 30 minutes every night and soft gum for 1.5-2 hours mostly while working out in the gym

"I added thumb pulling , bone smashing and increased my chewing duration. Now i chew soft gum for 1.5-2 hours usually while working out in the gym and hard gum for 30 minutes"
"i chew way more now"

Bonesmashing: 1-2 minutes every hour, 3x a week 5 min. on each zygo 5 min. on chin (hard af) (conflicting timeframes...). Bonesmashed for around 6 months

Doesn't do bonesmashing anymore and hasn't done so for 2+ months

I asked him about any gains lost (in regards to bonesmashing since if i recall correctly i've heard here and there that the results of it don't (always) stay) and he replied short and sweet with a: "Nope."

Mewing:
"I’m still doing hard mewing and chin tucking although i don’t chin tuck that much maybe 30-60 minutes max"

Recent pictures (NOTE: HE WAS LEANED DOWN IN THESE PICTURES):

Nice! Thanks for sharing. I'm convinced lately that getting that nice jawline has everything to do with the swallow. I'm really focusing lately on generating a swallow from the throat area, the kind of swallow that is created by the very very cheesy swallow, the one where Dr. Mew lifts up his eyebrows and looks like a psycho. Haha. Seems like not too many people pay attention that exercise, but learning how to do this type of swallow with my mouth closed, has really helped to get even more of the back of my tongue up. And the guy in the picture said that getting the back of his tongue up was one of his main focuses. That in combination with his focus on the McKenzie Chin tuck and overall body posture, is key I believe.

Can someone align the ears to see if this is true? Don't doubt it is. Brow ridge gains mainly came from chewing I might add. I know that chewing over time adds to brow thickness.

Hi! I

I always align the ears first  beacuse , being complex, they help to adjust the size of the pictures

ezgif.com gif makerear

and then I use the forehead because i believe, unlike the ears, it is impossible to change its size and position by mewing

ezgif.com gif makerhead

You can see that the light on his zygo is dimming. By this, you can tell that his face got wider and flatter/more concave (good) preventing the light coming from the front to dissipate along the sides

The gif on reddit is very very random

But the brow muscle and bone can be affected by chewing even if not mewing. So there can be change in the forehead, too

I don't think it's hard. Lots of middle aged and seniors develop this type of heavy brow in their later years. Men and women.

Heck some women's mandibles seem to grow forever.

Just looking at the reddit thread, this guy has a very good understanding of how people should be mewing and training. I'm impressed.

It staggers me how only the barest couple of mm in change can make you go from boyish to manly. What staggers me even more is how incredibly attuned we are to noticing these differences in peoples faces. We are unbelievably sensitive to these disparities despite them being so small.

Is it possible that the change could be only in the muscles under the chin giving his lower jaw a new resting position? Or do you think there was skeletal change?

there is absolutely skeletal change. it's not even contestable. look at the anchor point in the animation i.e his ears.

his forehead has come forward, brow has come forward making the eyes appear more recessed and hooded (good thing), lower face i.e jaw and chin has come forward, the jaw especially is way more prominent, nose slightly straighter, maxilla is forward and up a bit.

His growth is excellent but I think his results are due to superior genetics to begin with. He was already very good looking and had great forward growth as can be seen from the angle/shape of his nose and cheekbones. I am truly envious of his results. Here is a link to my results from the past 2 years of mewing as I really need advice right now

OMG! You can even notice he lifts the back of the tongue so up that his Adam's nut isn't even visible! That's really impressive, especially since he admitted that he is not capable of choking himself by lifting the tongue.

I'm not convinced by those photos tbh - is it 100% clear that he has exactly the same head posture in both photos? I think that when you match up skull landmarks in two photos so that they're identical, yet the body (shoulders, chest etc) changes so dramatically between each shot, then it's not clear that the head position is the same. Look at how much his body size changes between the two photos. A little attributable to different clothing, for sure. But not all.

Also, he seems to have more mustache in the after photo - that would contribute to his philtrum area looking more forward.

Look at how much the back of his head changes between the photos. They're in entirely different positions. Some of it attributable to different hair, but again, not all. This again makes me wonder how valid these photos are in terms of pose and posture.

None of these before/after photos show the state of the bite. Is he jutting his mandible in the after photo? If he's jutting just a little, and also engaging his mentalis with proper tongue posture, then it would contribute massively to the before/after difference in his mandible. The act of pushing the back of the tongue up alone would lift and tighten the skin under his mandible in the same way.

What makes me most skeptical of all, however, is that I can produce similar differences in profile myself with just minor adjustments to posture, mandible position etc. And lighting is absolutely crucial too. He's in slightly different positions relative to the room's light in each photo. Note how his eyes are more in shadow in the after photo. Does this create the illusion that his eyes have become more deep set? And as for his hooded eyes claim - I don't see any more hooding in the after photo. It just looks like there's less upper lid exposure because the light isn't catching it like in the before photo.

Unfortunately, we're never going to see any conclusive evidence that mewing is capable of these kinds of skeletal changes until someone measures it scientifically. And that's going to mean ceph traces, among other things.

@alphaminus I disagree that this isn't good evidence at least that something he did, mewing or chewing, had a profound effect on his facial structure. Look at the mass of his chin. No amount of jutting increases muscle and bone mass like that. His chin isn't just better aligned, it's clearly much bigger than before. Now, if someone debunked this and said that he got an implant, I would accept that. But saying that he's just adjusting his posture? There's simply no way.

I believe his is correct.  My eyes became more hooded, nose a little thinner.. and chin more foreward but my maxilla did retrude.  Here’s the deal... these things are MORE MASCULINE. Yikes!

@darkindigo Your maxilla did not retrude as a result of proper posture. The other changes you described are desirable for both sexes.

You're making judgments about the size of someone's chin from two photos in which the chin is covered by beard (is it exactly the same amount of beard in both photos? Impossible to tell, and just a few days extra beard growth can cause a noticeable difference in the size of the chin) and in which he possibly has different head posture. Also, looking at the animation, it would appear that he's standing closer to the camera in the after photo (and he's certainly standing in different positions relative to the light). These, among other things, make the photos very misleading and problematic as a before/after comparison. Proximity to the lens, for example, can absolutely distort dimensions depending on the kind of lens used.  I think people get a little carried away with the idea of matching a landmark in two photos - in this case, great care has been taken to make sure that the ears match exactly in both photos. But this does not mean that everything else is in exactly the same position relative to each other.

Sadly, in the absence of any formal scientific studies, I think all we're ever going to see is rough guesswork like this, and there are so many factors which make these photos almost useless as a gauge.

@darkindigo Your maxilla did not retrude as a result of proper posture. The other changes you described are desirable for both sexes.

The maxilla retrudes when you reposition the tongue to the back of the top part of the mouth... so actually it does because of so-called "proper" tongue position.  The widening that occurs on the maxilla is accompanied by a recession of the front teeth..  So... basically, yes, that is what happened.  You can see the effects of widening the back portion of the jaw in the results found here: https://www.beyondyoursmile.net/gallery   Nearly all the maxillas retruded.  The teeth are the teeth.  You can shape them however... but if you keep your tongue forward then that helps to keep your maxilla forward.  If you tuck your tongue back away from the front teeth, then the tongue/lip balance is disrupted and the maxilla retrudes.  Anyway, it's both entirely complex and quite simple, really.  :-)  Dr. John Mew also has a video on deep bite.  This will explain better, since I know that many who do "Mewing" think it will help them and it won't.  Everyone must be individually treated.

@pame, to further explain, you must see where you bite is naturally and where it is (how teeth fit together) with a more chin tucked, upright position.  What ends up happening is that the natural position of the teeth is offset.  This causes the front teeth to be pushed back while the bottom teeth move forward.  It's the same concept behind every mandibular advancing system.  Dr. Mew has always been so enamored with tongue positioning and the posterior region of the palate.  The thing is... positioning isn't as important as swallow pattern.  Also, the way to move the maxilla forward from what I can tell is to do what that guy on YouTube (who used to be on the-great-work.org) did... that Maverick guy.  He did get maxillary advancement... though I am quite concerned about the level of nonsense out there... especially by him.

Also worth mentioning that he says he walks around his house in an extreme chin tuck (using fingers to tuck chin maximally) for 2 hours a day. Seems like chin tucks are quite essential for good results.

I'm a strong believer in mewing, hard mewing, and chin tucking. But honestly... I think this guy got an implant. This is just too extreme and his most recent post is just too close chronologically to have THAT much difference. There's something going on her that he's just not telling us. If his pictures are real than mewing is literally the Holy Grail and genetics aren't even meta anymore.

@ohwhatthehell the guy says he's 20 I believe so puberty can still be a factor.

But aside from that, we know mewing can correct a lot of problems, like sleep apnea, etc.  The Holy Grail isn't mewing, it's discipline.  If what he says about his routine is correct (extreme chin tucking for hours a day), it's his commitment that's the X factor.  I doubt many out there are willing to put in the kind of effort he has, which is probably why results like this are so rare.  That and a lot of people simply probably aren't doing it correctly (ie. proper posture).

... either that or he really did get chin implants and is fooling everyone.

Guys, just consider what process brings the chin out like that.

Did the jaw move forward bringing with it the chin forward? That's not possible because the lips did not change position.

Did the lower teeth move backward? That's also not possible because there isn't enough space in anyone's jaws for that to happen, mind you that lower teeth hardly nudge backward.

Did it grow on its own outward? If so how does so called "hard mewing" make the chin grow like that? It looks as if a bone tumor grew there expanding his chin in such pretty shape.

None of this is possible.

The first time I saw this guy's progress pictures I thought: questionable but maybe possible. Now I can say that whatever progress he made with his forward head posture, facial muscles, etc he has added upon it some cosmetic procedures and is presenting it as "hard mewing", which is not surprising.

Since Mike Mew released his video depicting Kyle Jenner wider mid face as a result of tongue posturing this was to be expected. Every person who had a cosmetic procedure received a warm invitation to use "mewing" as a cover up.

Previously, they used to say they "bloomed". Now they can just say they "mewed".

I mean couldn't it be possible that extreme effort and dedication can lead to changes far greater than what was previously believed to be possible with mewing? With the new chewing study we now know for a fact that applying stress to bones will produce skeletal change in adults.

I think the front results are even more striking. It doesn't seem surgical to me because the changes aren't limited to any one region of the face/skull, every part seems to have changed

Undoubtedly there are allot of changes, thus I focused on the chin for that reason. Its so unnatural looking and so questionably expanded.

Look at this surgery outcome, the whole face is transformed. This is from a leading maxillofacial surgeon. Wanna guess what was done? Segmental Le fort 1 with CCW, BSSO, Genoplasty, cheek and malar onlay augmentation, jaw implants, soft tissue augmentation, facelift, and make up.

I can share with you more crazy transformations, and it looks natural.

Yea, he doesn't looks bad in the before, I suppose you can say he had a decent foundation to start with, but also photography can play a role. In the before his face is really close to the camera which narrows his face and enlarges his nose. The camera is also higher which makes the upper part of his face look bigger in relation to the lower.

Those are common techniques photographers use to provide the best picture for their client's facial anatomy. Regardless, his face has undoubtedly changed and most likely with more than one procedure.

@adbulrahman Any way he can prove he didn't get cosmetic surgery done? He asked this in the thread as well. How are we gonna be able to discuss facial change from mewing if anyone who gets results which exceed what we currently believe is attainable gets accused of having had cosmetic procedures?

@adbulrahman Any way he can prove he didn't get cosmetic surgery done? He asked this in the thread as well. How are we gonna be able to discuss facial change from mewing if anyone who gets results which exceed what we currently believe is attainable gets accused of having had cosmetic procedures?

He would need to get an x-ray, preferably CBCT, by an independent and verified orthodontist who is open to exploring his case. If he is in the States, someone like Bill Hang, if he agrees, would be a good choice because he is familiar with the concept of mewing.

Speaking of which, why don't you guys as a forum forward this to Sugr2 for his opinion. He obviously believes in remolding and will be able to tell you what is and is not possible.

" can lead to changes far greater than what was previously believed to be possible with mewing"

Look at Process's thread. I think its 2 or 3years of mewing for him. In my eyes, nothing changed in that time.

I have seen changes like that to the lower third with filler before and afters, too.

As for the chin, there are exercises that work the mentalis muscle, but I only know to what extent that has changed the appearance of my chin when looking at my profile. It does appear like it could be a chin implant, and the lack of change to the position of the lips (though it's hard to say what's going on there because of the beard) seems odd and something that I wouldn't expect to happen with the mandible seemingly moving forward like that and when using techniques like face pulling or maybe even mewing.

To me, the users admission that he uses prescription vitamin A cream at such a young age indicates he knows a thing or two about maximizing his appearance. So I'm thinking either a lot of things are coming together here (adjunct therapies, camera positioning, "squinching" etc), or he employed use of surgical/filler intervention(s) and perhaps wanted to see if his new look passes as natural.

Also re: hard mewing, the guy does say he also mews in a chin tuck AND sleeps on his back in one, too. This person claims he did the same thing I did, started hard mewing while also starting to mew during sleep and then there is no way to tease apart the result. I've never seen a single hard mewing case where you can definitively point to hard mewing being behind the result, because typically these people are face pullers or have a face pulling past, or they do chin tucks etc all day and night, and this case is no exception.

Remember this pain... and let it activate you.

Fillers do crazy stuff:

Now any of them can say I was "hard mewing" brooo!

info:
(What I did: • Hard mewing 24/7. I push upwards so hard that the area under my jaw (hyoid) starts burning. Sometimes it's difficult to fall asleep for me as I’m mewing so hard. • Proper lip seal. I keep my lips closed with a slight force. • Proper swallowing (watch mike mew’s video on this) • Gum chewing 20-30 minutes every day. • Chin tucks all the time when I’m alone. • I also work at my body posture and try to stay in good posture while standing and sitting.)

The superimposition in the gif is possibly exaggerating the change on the chin. If you compare his last 'after' picture with this one, the change does not seem as dramatic anymore:

This level of change seems to be in line with the changes jamo experienced:

That is crazy, i did not know fillers can have such a drastic effect on facial structure. These photos can easily pass as hard mewing results

Also the guy posted this video https://imgur.com/a/UXBMl1o so it is definitely not photoshop. I think he had fillers to straighten out his nose and improve his chin

Wait, wait, wait. About the fillers. If they bring such striking results, how come it's not the number 1, go-to method of 'looks-maxxing'? Am I missing something? Why aren't all the incels getting jaw fillers already?

Is the procedure dangerous? Or possibly expensive/

I never use gifs to analyze change, I always use still pictures with land marks to understand whats going on. I only use gifs to share with people so they can better visualize the idea. Looking at his still before and after pictures its clear his chin changed but his lips didn't.

This level of change seems to be in line with the changes jamo experienced:

It makes one wonder weather he had work done as well. Maybe that is why he posted such a low quality after picture in his comparison.

The length people go to change their appearance is crazy indeed and you would be surprised how far people and cosmetic surgeons are going to achieve better esthetics. There are people undergoing a modified form of le fort 3 just to look better.

I am not familial with those subgroups, but I can tell you the use of fillers is exploding and not every provider has the skill to pull off this level of work. One thing is certain those people are going to regret their procedures as eventually the filler starts changing shape and later breaking loose and causing inflammation.

What are these fillerse made of? Silikon?

There is a famous plastic surgeon in switzerland who uses patented implants for his surgeries, which slowly "bind" to your real bones and later on actually become bone too. That seems like a nice idea. Obviously its expensive though

No, those were done in Brazil so most likely were made with bioplasty a polymethylmethacrylate particles that acts as permanent filler. The one you see in the picture below was made with a biodegradable filler and only lasts 18 months at most.

Yeah, that's Sailer, the first picture I posted of the women's transformation is from him. He used that bone cartilage onlay on her. It's a great technique for small improvements, nothing close to this filler stuff. It's crazy and going to cause allot of complications.

As far as i know he can make his cartilage any shape he wants. And the improvements from that woman are very impressive, far from small. Do you have any idea how much sailer costs?

Honestly if those fillers just dissapear completely after 2 years without causing any problems, i'd say they are a good alternative to permanent cartilage implants like those from sailer.

I dont know if fillers like that exist though.

I think his chin change might actually make sense. He said in his before progress picture that he had problems with his smile, with his teeth tipping forward. Now i'm not sure if this is true what i read in the comments here, but it's interesting to me nonetheless and i'm curious if there were valid things said here:

"

Front teeth tilting out is good let’s your lower jaw come forward

But it fucks up the smile dude

Temporarily unless your lower jaw doesn’t come forward eventually. If you notice a bit of a overbite developing you should be able to push your lower jaw forward to meet the more forward upper teeth. Try to keep the lower jaw there so your bite reforms in that new position.

It's because your tongue is touching your teeth pushing them outwards

1 point·3 months ago

You can push your teeth back with your hands. Use pressure at some point every day."

Assuming that this notion of 'teeth tipped forward = lets lower jaw come forward', it would seem likely that this is exactly what happened. You can also see it in the gif progress posted with Jamo's pics that his lower jaw moved forward to meet his upper jaw in a more alligned way. This might explain why the chin became even more prominent.

Am i perhaps onto something here?

I think so, in my opinion it doesn't seem out of the ordinary your chin would start projecting more from mewing and/or chewing.

Image result for jamo mewing

I think the remodeling of the skull, maxilla, and mandible is more complicated than we can yet understand, especially for people on a forum commenting without any formal education on this subject. So if the reddit guy got surgery did jamo as well? His chin obviously projects more as a result of mewing. Honestly, I think some people here are a little too cynical, people readily admit it's possible to make small changes to the face and maxilla, yet it's somehow inconceivable that those small changes over a longer period of time can add up to make a big difference. Why shouldn't it be possible to completely remodel the maxilla and skull? What indication points to it not being possible besides people being doubtful and cynical?

"Why shouldn't it be possible to completely remodel the maxilla and skull? What indication points to it not being possible besides people being doubtful and cynical?"

In my opinion its because i think the tongue is not strong enough to generate forces that initiate bone remodeling in adults. I very much believe its possible in children and even young teenagers.

Im also sceptical because i have never, never seen true evidence from an adult who changed his maxilla through mewing.

The cropped pictures people post here, with different cameras, different distances, different angles, different beard lengths, different head posture, different bodyfat/muscle weight, different lighting. This is not true evidence. Its not even anecdotal evidence. From a professional standpoint, its nothing really.

In all these years, i have never seen actual evidence from a adult who has done it. Never. Not even once.

Im still going to mew until i die because thats how its supposed to be, wether im going to get anything out of it or not.

I do not doubt that its impossible to remodel or even "move" an adults maxilla in some sort of way. I just do not think your tongue has the power to do it.

He can control it within small volumes, once the amount is increased it goes out of control. That woman had multiple procedures. Sailer is a very tricky surgeon with a track record of over promising and under delivering.

Honestly if those fillers just dissapear completely after 2 years without causing any problems, i'd say they are a good alternative to permanent cartilage implants like those from sailer.

I dont know if fillers like that exist though.

They have their own drawbacks. The pictures you are seeing are fresh out of the procedure. Complications are very common. Permanent onlays are more predictable. Osteotomies are the most solid, because they do not introduce any foreign object to the body. However, their effect is small and come with the highest initial risk due to the bone sawing, etc.

That argument can be used against people who think those results are real. They try to explain such changes without having a clue what they are talking about. Its very possible jamo had fillers too. Anyone frustrated with their mewing progress can have a simple procedure and look closer to their desired ideal and then post the transformation as a result of "hard mewing".

What do you expect when Mike Mew, the Godfather of mewing, goes on record saying that kylie jenner cheeks are wider because of tongue posture? He has been talking about changing facial form in adults for at least 5 years and has not produced a single verifiable example. Normally when you suggest a new idea that challenges accepted norms you provide reproducible evidence. That has to happen before people accept this kind of change is possible.

He hasn't produced results because at the end of the day the results are up to the patient not him. That's my opinion at least, that you can get all the treatment in the world but when it comes to it all you need to do is have proper tongue and body posture. The reality is most people don't have the dedication to hold proper tongue posture 24/7, not only because it's hard but it can also be painful. Most treatment I think doesn't work, you can't change habit with exercises and appliances, and you can only motivate a person to change their habits to a degree, it's really up to the person to change. Not only do appliances and exercises not fix habits, the appliances themselves can't remodel the maxilla, even a face pull mask. And for palate expanders, while it gives room for the tongue, it's not actively changing the patient's habits, thus it's always possible to regress your expansion.

I believe the maxilla remodels through adaptive shortening of the palatoglossus muscle or something of that sort, not from direct tongue force. This is the reason I think face pulling masks don't work that well, face pulling masks are trying to emulate the tongue pushing up when it's not even the direct force of the tongue remodeling the maxilla, it's the muscle that elevates the tongue and in response pulling down and forward on the maxilla that remodels the maxilla. Basically my point is I think the only way to get change is through your tongue and the information is already out there so there's no need to go to an ortho like Mike Mew. That is of course what I believe, I might be wrong. I do think him saying Kylie Jenner's cheeks are wider because of tongue posture is quite stupid, while I do appreciate Mike Mew for spreading the word on tongue posture I believe there's no need to get treatment from him or anybody for that matter unless you are an especially bad case who needs help, otherwise it's a waste of money.

This point applies to any treatment that requires patient effort. Therefore I have to ask, why are myofunctional therapist for example able to produce results with their patients and clearly demonstrate it, while Mike supposedly can't with adult mewing?

Heck, you dont have to go that far. Why is John Mew able to achieve results using Orthotropics with children? Once you consider this you realize nothing is stopping Mike Mew from finding good and dedicated subjects for his adult mewing theory.

With all due respect, this paragraphs holds several examples of how the mewing community knows nothing about what they are talking about. They create fancy sounding theories that have absolutely no bases in clinical practice.

Don't get me wrong theorizing is not the problem. Making judgments, however such as the need to hard mew to get results which goes against established medical practices (even Mike Mew hinted to this) or not seeking treatment with professionals unless you are a very sever case is awful.

This case is an example of this.  Some random dude drops few pictures on reddit (and later a video) showing improvements in his face and body posture and claims he did it through hard mewing. Sorry that doesn't make sense and goes against any medical principles including alternative ones.

Ideally Mike Mew should take charge of what he started and invite volunteers to experiment. Have them visit him to take records, supervise their technique, and follow their progress periodically to verify any results.

Don't believe any excuses. If his farther did it for decades to prove Orthotropics so can he do it. He can easily set a simple objective such as monitoring the IMW of 20 adults who are practicing mewing. Record their progress in 3 months intervals for 1 year. If the results show some progress use the successful cases for the next round to monitor expansion in the sagittal direction and so forth.

Do you know how amazing that would have been? To upload a video discussing the results of the experiment with half for example achieving some level of expansion and the best case achieving 10mm of expansion!

He could have easily done this since 2017 when his followers reached 25,000 on youtube and covered the small costs of materials through crowd funding.

Wanna guess why he didn't?

I'm probably just idealistic, but isn't the point of having a forum like this to look at posts like this with optimism first?

I don't get the vibe that a fella like this would have gotten surgery, what jerk-off 23 year old can afford that? I definitely can't!

If people show bad results, well it confirms that mewing doesn't do anything. If people show good results, we immediately jump to the conclusion that is has to be surgery.

With that mentality, I just don't get why people are on this forum.. What do you hope to achieve with your time here?

This guy, like many others who have shown results, says how religiously he was practicing mewing. "Hard mewing 24/7. I push upwards so hard that the area under my jaw (hyoid) starts burning. Sometimes its difficult to fall asleep for me as i’m mewing so hard." That's what I'm gonna take away from this.

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

I believe him. He's constantly provided many photos over the time period, videos included, seems highly knowledgeable on mewing, constantly discusses with and answers questions for people across several different social media platforms and is clearly one of the most dedicated mewers alive. He puts tremendous effort, not only in terms of will but power into his routine and I don't think it's so unreasonable to believe that increased forces can lead to accelerated bone change.

I don't get the vibe that a fella like this would have gotten surgery, what jerk-off 23 year old can afford that? I definitely can't!

Plenty of people of that age have parents that can afford it. Heck there is even parents that get this as birthday and graduation gifts for their kids. One more thing, fillers are very cheap compared to surgery.

If people show bad results, well it confirms that mewing doesn't do anything. If people show good results, we immediately jump to the conclusion that is has to be surgery.

With that mentality, I just don't get why people are on this forum..

What do you hope to achieve with your time here?

Because correcting oral and body function and posture brings great health benefits and supports other expansive treatments that you see us discussing here. Heck I argue "mewing" can improve your surgery results by insuring your tongue never falls into your throat.

And that's the problem, people take this nonsense and run with it! Did you see how stiff this guy head was moving in the video? That's probably the greatest result he achieved, hyper tonic muscles all over his neck.

Trust me man, people questioning this stuff are allot more optimistic than you think. They are also allot more rational.

A reason that I am skeptical of people getting surgery/fillers and then claiming that it is because of mewing is that typically people getting procedures done don't want to let anyone know that they changed their appearance. Someone getting fillers isn't likely to mention it to anybody, let alone go online and share their "before" photos.

As before, scans are really the only way that we can empirically confirm any instance of bone development

I agree. I get why people are saying that people try to pass off their surgeries as "mewing". It makes sense. But then i wouldnt expect the person to go out of his way to post pictures on the internet and let thousands of people see it.

We also shouldnt forget the guy lost alot of weight in those years.

Honestly, I think some people here are a little too cynical, people readily admit it's possible to make small changes to the face and maxilla, yet it's somehow inconceivable that those small changes over a longer period of time can add up to make a big difference.

The core of the issue I see here goes deeper than just mewing. It highlights a fundamental difference in cognitive modes between the forum users. Abdul's cognitive temperament is great for processing large amounts of detailed information, but awful for thinking out of the box. In other words, he is only capable of approaching any subject in terms of what is already known to be true by whatever sources he is using. He is either incapable or unwilling to entertain the various ways in which he could be wrong. Anything that goes against his understanding must "make no sense", because he assumes that if something did make sense, he would already be aware of it.

The temperament for many others in this forum, on the other hand, is the opposite: they are great at thinking out of the box, but awful at minding the details. Their theories might be anything in between truthful and delusional, because their intellectual foundation is only rudimentarily based on actual reality.

Without going into inane arguments regarding the superiority of either temperament, I'm just saying that as long as these differences are not acknowledged by both parties, these kind of conversations will be unsatisfying. Abdul thinks he is being rational and skeptical, yet he is also blind to his own inability to think laterally. To someone else, who can see all the ways in which Abdul's certainty is unearned, he is borderline offending. It's an inconvenient match, but with little understanding from both sides, it can be overcome.

@abdulrahman there is no reason anyone should 'trust you' in particular. I am sure everyone here is aware of the doubts you have brought up. You are not on some superiorly enlightened level by simply being able to question things. Questioning is an intermediate level skill. The lowest level is believing everything. The highest level? Identifying ways in which a questionable thing could be true. Only on this level will groundbreaking discoveries be made. I hope you are not confusing the forementioned lowest and highest levels with each other, as it sometimes seems. If it were up to me, I would make this forum all about the latter. Enthusiastic speculation wins over conservative skepticism any day.

@abdulrahman is very qualified to talk about this subject, and I think his grounded ability to balance the hope of finding a solution with the actual clinical / scientific results has been done in a very healthy and constructive way.

I personally had no idea that fillers could cause such immense change across the entire face until he posted examples.

I agree with him here:

Trust me man, people questioning this stuff are allot more optimistic than you think.

With the amount of helpful posting he's done here, I don't think anyone can question that Abdulrahman (and other healthy skeptics) are optimistic about eventually finding a way to correct improper development. Yet until someone posts an xray/scan showing that their bone has changed, it's just opinions vs opinions.

We know this stuff works in children. Mike Mew himself is on the same level of healthy skepticism as some posters here about results in adults.

@progress

If it were up to me, I would make this forum all about the latter. Enthusiastic speculation wins over conservative skepticism any day.

A healthy balance sir. Proof trumps all, and we've got no empirical proof in adult humans (yet).

Abdul is obviously a knowledgeable and valuable member. It's not my intention to imply otherwise. I am more concerned of his self-assured "trust me"-rhetoric than the breadth of information that he is backing it up with. Of course this could be just my personal issue, but I thought it would be worth bringing up in case it's something more.

@TGW my hero! thank you!!

@progress putting aside all the incorrect things you said about me I have a question for you. Since you speak of creative thinking, can anyone express their creativity without learning to speak first? Can anyone author a novel without knowing how to write first? Can anyone direct a movie without learning how to manage a film operation first?

I think you know what I am hinting to. Before you can explore the cosmos like Galileo, you need to know how to operate the damn telescope. Otherwise that shining star you think you are looking at and nobody else sees might just turn out to be your neighbors dimmed bathroom light!

Applying this to the forum, many of you guys have jumped into creating your own form of "hard" mewing before even understanding proper mewing as advised by Mike Mew. This was in part by necessity as Mike's content was not clear. Plus he is not very responsive to the user base. But it’s no excuse for anyone to create medical advice from their imagination, especially when correct information becomes available.

Medical facts come way before anyone’s “creativity” including our friend, the subject of this topic, who is practicing mewing with such “religious” zealous he has actually gone beyond “hard mewing”. He as well start calling his method “Jihad Mewing”!

Now to ease the atmosphere I made a little creative story explaining “Jihad Mewing”

creative person 1: hey maaan, did you hear about “jihad mewing”???

creative person 2: wat dhat??

creative person 1: it’s the new way to look like a model!

creative person 2: how!?

creative person 1: just push with your tongue as hard as you can

creative person 2: where??

creative person 1: anywhere you want to grow your jaws, just push!

creative person 2: I am pushing, but nothing is happening

creative person 1: well, you got to push harder! harder!

creative person 2: I am! so hard, I am bleeding!

creative person 1: f*** man, you don’t know what you are doing!

I hope you enjoyed my little creative story J

PS. One last thing, I used “trust me” in reference to my personal optimism about the subject.

I think you know what I am hinting to.

I'm not a psychic. If you want to deliver a point, I wish you'd speak directly, lest we build a whole discussion based on misinterpretation of the other. Based on how it seems to me, your point is that without sufficient comprehension of medical jargon, one is not fit to understand anything about medical processes. Which to me seems like a misguided assumption, since jargon itself points to concepts, and concepts are based on phenomena that are freely observable by anyone.

But it’s no excuse for anyone to create medical advice from their imagination, especially when correct information becomes available.

Correct information is an awkward and deceptive concept. Even words, by default, are delusion. They attach imaginary meaning to things where such meaning may or may not serve a beneficial role. This creates a strict limit to jargon-based approach: it restricts you to dealing with things that have been previously observed and defined. What has not been observed and defined is then thought to not exist. The very same faulty reasoning has led to popularization of reductionist materialism in the modern scientific community. At best, one learns to be mindful of this innate flaw. At worst, they end up with denial as their only choice in the face of an observation that does not conform to their understanding of the reality. Which from my perspective is exactly what is happening here. Rather than taking into account the rare dedication of the person, and the transparency with which the claimed results are presented, you feel compelled to reject any notion of his truthfulness simply because "it doesn't make sense" to you, even though there are multiple medically legitimate ways to explain why it would make sense, from adaption under sustained bone strain to metabolic-hormonal effects of trigeminal nerve stimulation.

I wouldn't be concerned if you just doubted him. But you seem obnoxiously sure of your judgement. How do you justify this?

Bit confused about this but what progress pic you think he got the fillers in Abdul? In Progress pic 2 or 3. If the fillers do regress over time are you saying he got them done again in pic 3

I don't know exactly what he did, I just know he did something and shared with everyone the different methods available to achieve similar results. Weather it be via filler, implants, etc I dont know exactly what he did, but my comments were mainly made about his last progress picture.

His first after photo looks plausibly created by Mewing plus jutting his mandible forward. His second update looks really suspicious, especially the chin. Maybe chin fillers.

Something else nobody has caught is that his 2nd update photo is not a full profile shot, because we can see part of his other eyebrow.

His face has gotten a lot more masculine and robust, but I am really skeptical that Mewing is enough to do this. Especially when his exaggerated chin growth makes me suspect that Mewing is not the whole story here.  Maturation is one possibility. But another possibility is that he is on testosterone or HGH. These can affect jaw development. If so, then his stack of interventions could be Mewing + chin filler + juice.

Is it likely that someone would put together 3 different interventions? Maybe in the past it would have been unlikely, but nowadays, a guy really dedicated to looksmaxing with the support of forums could absolutely come up with an elaborate protocol like this.

His submental area (under the chin) has improved a lot. I can believe that this is due to Mewing. Especially if he is deliberately sucking up the hyoid in the photos. So he has gotten real results from Mewing, which might let him justify to himself the claim that Mewing is responsible for all his results (when in reality he has likely been doing additional procedures).

Also, let's talk about Jamo. Jamo started at 17 (I think) and his results were over 4 years, so that is more plausibly due to maturation. Also, Jamo's before photo is turned away from the camera, so it's harder to tell what happened.

If I recall right, the chin comparison was something like 7 months of progress.

If he did have something done it would have to be done in both progress pics. He would be insane to get work done if he's already getting results from mewing in progress pic 2.

I thought the discussion between progress and abdul was pretty interesting!

To the people here who dont believe bone remodeling by mewing in adults is possible, how do account for increased inter molar width?

Or is that only possible by tipping of the teeth in your opinion?

I dont understand where this myth comes from and why people still believe this. Steroids do not make your bones grow. I know that because i have done steroids for 4 years without a break, and i have friends who have done steroids for even longer.

Even moderate doses of HGH (3-4iu) per day will not make your bones grow. Steroids do increase bone density but they do not make your mandible wider, and your skull bigger and they certainly do not add 2 inches to your chin.

Steroids can sometimes make your entire face look more robust and masculine, but thats not because of the bones.

I saw this post and was initially very impressed, with the first set of results, then extremely skeptical, with the second set of results. Has anyone considered the possibility that he really looks like he says he does now and that the BEFORE pics are photo shopped? People are only scrutinizing the after photo, which he easily debunked with a video. What if he just looked like that already and wanted to troll a bunch of incels and orthotropics people?

That being said, he's been posting on r/orthotropics about mewing technique for about 5 months, and his posts are consistent and not trolly. Maybe he's telling the truth. Either way, I am going to keep chugging along. He is not the reason I started mewing and won't be the reason that I quit.

Please tell me you liked my "jihad mewing" script, I need encouragement to create more content. Surly you want to learn about the 72 non-virgins you get from "jihad mewing".

By the way, as far as I know there is no one here that doesn't think bone remolding is not possible in adults. Views vary on the extent to which it happens and how it can be achieved.

In this particular case, nothing explains this persons chin growing on its own as much as you see in his progress pictures.

The fillers idea is a great one for individuals who just want cosmetic changes and also want to remain gaining these margíal-moderate and even great results form mewing overtime.  They can even do this until something very significant becomes more established than things are now (the post on this forum about the study on slow palatal and skeletal expansion taking place in courtesy of an expansion device is very promising already to me, as well as a few other random things that need further establishment for sure.)  2 mm in zygomatic arch expansion in about five months with slow  expansion which is said to be the best type of expansion.   If further studies are carried out on this and test subjects can continue to show similar results over the period of a year, I think that this can be something all of us should really look at.

We all just have to keep at it regardless. If anybody wants to go for fillers in the meantime while mewing etc., definitely go for fillers that are hyaluronic acid based. You want fillers that will not identified as too foreign”to the body and you also better be willing to pay up for this type of treatment every four months at best if you were an active individual with a decent metabolism.  You can even go under the radar and keep on refilling gradually until you and your license professional can determine the perfect regimen for you to carry out with this protocol. You should however take great care of your skin if you’re going to be considering this as a nation because I can definitely see this aging you extremely fast if you go about it without care. You should take certain months off  every year and definitely care for your skin with things like a derma roller, some facial yoga or orofacial myology, some essential oil‘s and perhaps some other things. You should be fine if you take this extra step.

Jihad mewing is a catchy term, and very fitting for what this guy might have been doing. I have experimented a little with pushing up until it burns under the jaw, and I can see how jihad mewing in this manner might create great results in a person is as dedicated as he describes himself to be. So who knows.. Maybe he did get surgery, maybe its real and he is just a very dedicated follower of the Prophet Mew and Jihad mews on levels never seen before? Maybe his jaw didnt grow much but just changed position further forwards?

But if every day is a mewing jihad for you, all day long, who knows whats possible? I think im gonna try to follow the doctrine of the Prophet myself a little more, at least part time.

chinny chin chin

If ya overlap the two images of his start and his current, his chin really doesn't change much. What does change could be accounted for in the skin finding it's new home over his shifting bones.

His jaw changes position, and his head changes location in relation to his jaw, but I don't see any actual change in the bone itself - just how the bones are organised.

What's crazy when you look at it like this, is how bad his posture was initially, and how his whole head and neck looked like it was collapsing in on itself.

- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

Yea, I made it in reference to on one hand crazy people that blow themselves up among civilians and expect to go to heaven and be rewarded with 72 virgins. On the other hand crazy people that push their tongue so hard and expect their face to look like a model. The joke is that they will get 72 none-virgins.

On a related note, "jihad mewing" is against the teachings of so called "prophet mew".  It goes against his teachings of gentle sub conscious mewing. According to him one must fully tame the tongue before achieving results, but some have taken his gentle peace loving message and corrupted it with savage violent dogma. Those can only be described as heretics and their act as blasphemy. They will be punished with having their maxillas completely and permanently removed to serve as warning to others!

You are arriving at an interesting question: is it more the jaws that swing forward, or the cranium that swings upward? Overlaying the pics in your way gives the impression that it's not just the maxilla, but the whole skull that had been collapsing under its own weight. It's as if the mandible largely remained in its proper positioning in relation to the rest of the body, while everything else moved. Which makes sense when you take in account how much higher priority the subconscious postural processes give to the airway than anatomically perfect posture. When oral posture fails, even though the rest of the head is sinking down, the mandible is still automatically kept away from the airway, resulting in head forward posture.

So perhaps it would be more proper to view the jaw as a lever for the postural support of the cranial base, rather than the other way around. Fixing tongue posture would then allow the upper cranium to "climb up" into its proper configuration. Should we first strive to rotate the head upward so that the palate is properly positioned in a horizontally neutral alignment, and only then focus on pushing upward with the tongue? I can only say for sure that in my own case it has not necessarily been beneficial to perform the  chin tuck so that the palate ends up being curved downward.

This was one of the earliest comparison pics I remember seeing. I noticed that like OP, he also acquired the habit of tilting his head slightly upwards:

When I first had this idea a few months ago, I experimented with photoshopping a bunch of sideprofiles by only rotating the upper cranium, instead of the jaws. Even with a single rough cut&move, this seemed to result in more "convenient" structural fixes than painstakingly trying to rotate the jaws and the nose forward:

My Friend,

Astaghfirullah - you confuse the community with your anachronisms and corruption of the pillars set forth by our Prophet (pbuh). It is said in 'The Cure and Cause of Malocclusion' by Prof. John Mew that when his only son, Mike Mew was in Mecca - Al-hamdu-lilah - he first learned of the gentle forces. Following this, his Hijra to Medina, where he was given the revelation of Jihad-mewing.

Do not spread such falsehoods again.

@Progress, it was this post with your photoshops that has made me look at the skull in this way - at least I would try photoshopping the jaw and nose (up to the bend in ones nose, the end in the bone and beginning of cartilage), and bring it up in the opposite manner to the above 'shops.

I found that if you reverse it on people with forward grown faces, the new composition shows off all the classic mouth breather characteristics.

He seems to really press on his opinion of the importance of chin tucks on his reddit post. Going so far as to use his finger to push his chin into a more extreme tuck.

If this is credible progress, which I believe it is, then I reckon it's worth bearing in mind his way of hard mewing with a focus on the hyoid, and chin tucks. Worth noting as well, Jamo's mention of the chin tuck initiating the hard mew - as I try to mew in the vein of this guy, I find as I straighten my back and head (or bring my occiput away from my tailbone, as has been mentioned before) my tongue really raises up, and I feel a warm pressure that feels pretty tiring to maintain. Perhaps this is the tongue pressing on the sphenoid?

This is what I imagine is what both Jamo and this fella have excelled in staying consistent, and where their "incel" roots have maybe helped them stay determined, because it's bloody exhausting to keep it up for long!

do you reckon hard mewing directly speeds up the rate of bone change as a result of higher pressure or do you think that hard-mewers are more likely to keep their tongues up for longer and also have stronger tongues which would result in more consistent contact leading to better results?

when pushing up the tongue root hard, most people can't nasally breathe. how long did it take you because you could push up with the back of the tongue and breathe? does the force of raising the hyoid expand the airway?

If ya overlap the two images of his start and his current, his chin really doesn't change much. What does change could be accounted for in the skin finding it's new home over his shifting bones.

His jaw changes position, and his head changes location in relation to his jaw, but I don't see any actual change in the bone itself - just how the bones are organised.

What's crazy when you look at it like this, is how bad his posture was initially, and how his whole head and neck looked like it was collapsing in on itself.

* Click the image to see it animated.

You can overlap images using different anchor points to show different effects. One will make the chin appear more prominent while the other less so.  To avoid this conflict you can plot fixed landmarks on both pictures and watch how they change in relation to each other.

There are standard points in photometric analysis as shown in the picture below. When looking at the chin the key point is "Pg". The further forward this point is in relation to "Li, Ls, Sn, Pn" the more the chin is said to project.

Applying those points to the pictures in question (click on it to enlarge) you can see none of them have changed in relation to each other expect "Pg".

f0lpf6gjad231 1

How is this possible? "Pg" can only project more in two ways:

First way, the whole lower jaw moves taking the "Pg" point with it forward. In this case the lower lip "Li" will also move forward relative to the upper lip "Ls", but none of that happened. The lower and upper lips are pretty much the same in relation (minus the difference of being closed and opened).

Second way, the lower teeth are brought backward. In this case the lower lip "Li" will move backward in relation to the upper lip "Ls". Unless there is a big gap or some missing teeth behind the lower incisors this option is not possible because lower teeth destilization is very hard and takes very long to provide few mm of results when it works. Plus his mentolabial angle would change if that was possible and this is not evident here.

It's clear the "Pg" point is forward because something local pushed it forward. Meaning something expanded behind the "Pg" point similar to the effect of cosmetic procedures.

I think this case is confusing to some well intending people because it combines changes that appear clearly real while others clearly fake. As I pointed out before, there is nothing stopping a person from correcting their forward head posture for example and then getting a filler procedure.

At any rate if someone wants to to trick the "mewing community" they really can and no one would be able to definitively prove it. This is eventually going to happen as tricksters/scammers/attention seekers keep learning from their mistakes. Besides anyone could have posted surgery transformation I shared earlier and claim it's facial upswing and hardly anyone would be able to argue with that, except maybe to point at the nose.

That's why you should not take claims of facial changes like this from anyone on the net unless it can be verified by independent professionals. And the reality is no professional is going to verify anything from the poor records that "mewers" typically keep as in this case.

That's why I pointed out that Mike Mew really dropped the ball when he did not take charge of his adult mewing concept and let it drift in some of the worst corners of the web.

Hi everyone! I am the guy from the reddit post. Why do you think my results are fake? I’ll try to prove it.

the main reason is your chin. If you do have some solid proof please post; will provide concrete evidence mewing does work for adults or at least some upswing is achievable

I would like to point out that I find the whole thing with the nose hump disappearing and face stretching forward very questionable, but it's the chin that unquestionably stands out as dubious.

Here is a lady who had a quick 20 minutes nose job with fillers.

And here is a picture showing the type of subtle changes that can be achieved with fillers in the nose and chin.

@krollic

I think both. Hard mewing speeds up the mewing process and hard mewers tend to keep the their tongue up longer. For example when u hard mew all day its easier for u to aoft mew during the night, your tongue will automatically be up there.

At first i used to stop breathing and mew hard af for 20 seconds, catch a breathe, do it again. When i kept doing it i was able to slowly push up with the very back third of my tongue, i can push up even on the soft palate now without any breathing problems so i guess my airway expanded.

Hey man u said its impossible for the chin to move forwards like that and its true i agree but chin isn’t all bone, my chin has a lot of soft tissue in that area maybe thats why it protrudes more.

Look at my friend’s chin, it looks even more protruding from the side profile.

did you ever have a torus palatinus on the roof of your palate? if so, do you think that has impacted your progress and has it gotten smaller over time?

how much has your inter molar width expanded?

@pame

Chin tuck played crucial role in my facial development. It strengthened my neck muscles and helped me push up with even the most back third part of my tongue. Sometimes i chin tuck 4-5 hours a day. I don’t do repetitions instead i just keep my head in chin tuck position and keep it there.

Hi, when you chin tuck while mewing do you apply even more force or leave it at rest position? I love that you open to prove your results and thanks for joining the forum.

@abdulrahman Having read through the thread, none of your examples with fillers and cartilage address one critical issue: his entire cranium changed shape, not just his face.

@helmutstrebl How big of a role do you think the chin chin tucks played in your progress? Do you think its best to chin tuck all day? Doesen't that cause very stiff neck muscles over time?

chin tucks played crucial role in my facial development. It allowed me to engage the posterior third of my tongue up against the roof easily. It also strengthened my neck muscles. And i haven’t got stiff neck from muscles from it even thou i do it 4-5 hours everyday.

It is also worth mentioning that i don’t do chin tucks repetitions i just push my chin towards my neck and keep it there

I see the dorsal hump disappeared and your face became a lot more masculine. I think the thicker beard in after photo is exaggerating the chin projection. Still very impressive if no fillers involved. To an untrained eye like mine this looks solid mewing progress but i'm not 100% sure

What would you recommend for someone if they wanted to get into a similar mewing routine to you?

So far I have picked up on 30 mins of chewing a day, sleeping on your back without a pillow to encourage a chin tuck and soft mewing at night. Did you start off literally sitting for 4-5 hours of the day only focusing on the chin tuck and hard mewing?

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

i started with two hours of chin tucking everyday. Did it like that for almost a year then started doing it all the time standing/sitting when i was alone so thats like 4-5 hours of chin tucking.

I didn’t chew gum for the first 6-8 months of mewing but i should have. Right now i’m chewing hard gum 30 minutes everyday sometimes take sundays off.

I would say its upto you if you wanna start slowly its fine as well but i told you my routine.

I think that our prophet and savior has found it difficult enough to get his patients to rest their tongue on the palate, let alone jihad mew all day everyday. Its not something for the normies off the world, and not something you could get a kid to do.

I feel that mewing while chin tuggin is nothing special, but jihad mewing while tuggin feels instinctively good. Just when sitting or laying dow, tug that chin in and push forward. What feels like pushing mostly forward and a little up when chin is tugged amounts to push up when in normal position.

I feel your scripture helmut, all hail our new prophet!

If real, this shows that with dedication, you can achieve results as a full-grown adult that rival the changes seen in children in roughly the same amount of time. It's amazing, really -- two years is typical for childhood orthotropics.

There is not necessarily anything contradictory to it. Time being more important than force does not mean that force does not matter. It just means that regardless of how hard you push, you are not going to get results instantly. If the question is whether a year of soft pushing or a year of hard pushing is going to yield better results, there is nothing to Mike's statement that would argue against the latter. His main point is that you should mew with an intensity that you are able to maintain it in the long term. He is implying that a moderate push maintained 24/7 is preferrable to mewing really hard for a few minutes and then dropping tongue posture for the next couple of hours. How I would build on this statement is that the stronger push you can maintain 24/7, the more impressive your changes are going to be.

There really needs to be more studies done on facial bone changes in adults. We know chewing will remodel the jaws in adult age, and high bite force has been linked to low gonial angles and generally wide, attractive faces with good bone structure. We also know oral posture and correct swallowing, in addition good general body posture are all essential. However we have no idea what the weighting of these are. Perhaps strong masseters and general body posture are far more important than the tongue posture part. We simply don't know.

It's exactly what @krollic said. He would, based on an existing body of 0 medical research, have to suggest to his clients to try something experimental with totally unknown consequences. This would not only discredit him, but open him up to all kinds of lawsuits. Literally all of the results both on this forum and elsewhere that are impressive are of people hard mewing. There's not really anything to debate. I haven't seen a single individual that wasn't hard mewing post meaningful progress. We have to lead this charge. We will be the testing sample for hard mewing that later is corroborated by research. I'm convinced that if anything works, it's hard mewing that does. That's how I'm going to be investing my time.

@ohwhatthehell well said.  Everyone is looking for evidence but the reality is that "hard mewing" has not been studied - at all.  It's merely a hypothesis right now, and we (or those of us who are doing it anyway) are the experiment.  Proceed with that in mind.

Further thoughts on @Helmutstrebl's case.

Today in the mirror I noticed just how drastically a beard can influence your appearance.  A beard gives your chin the impression that it's protruding by probably at least 20% more than it actually is.  I'm sure if he shaved his beard his transformation would look much more natural.

Because there is research to suggest otherwise, bone placed under constant pressure by soft tissue starts gradually wasting away.  I forgot the name of this condition but Dr. John Mew talks about it in his book chapter 4.

Posted by: krollic

all I can say is,my progess has been non-existent whenever I was soft mewing. all my gains have been when I hard mewed for many weeks/months. I even relapsed a when softmewing for a few months once.

And that is one of the problems of "hard mewing", it requires constant effort which is not natural. Contrast that with having proper treatment to expand your arches and in the process correcting your tongue and body function and posture. You would have results and be able to maintain them without any additional effort. And maybe overtime your entire maxilla will start remodeling as it seems we are seeing in some cases.

He has already done that with "mewing" and his "facial upswing". Both concepts are based on theory. He had and still dose not, have any evidence for them.

@abdulrahman you keep bringing up cosmetic procedures wrt this @helmutstrebl. You must think that he had cosmetic surgery on his whole skull, since every part of his head changed. In all the dramatic pictures you have posted, the faces are changed in discrete ways which a trained eye can see. But with our friend @helmutstrebl this is not the case, and if he is telling the truth (which as of right now I have no reason to doubt) then jihad mewing works.

@abdulrahman I'm not going to find an orthodontist to track anything. I don't have time for that. I'm already seeing awesome results that are similar to a lot of the other people that you probably cast doubt on. I find it very unlikely that hard mewing causes bone to waste away. Bones under stress grow. That's been known for decades now. It's also not "constant pressure". Nobody is able to hard mew for more than a few hours, even if they say "4-5 hours". They aren't actually able to exert pressure for all of that time.

Ultimately, you will do and believe what you want, but I'm getting great results and so are many others.

you may be surprised. i'm getting pretty damn close to being able to hard-mew all waking hours (except when i'm very distracted or engaged with something. after several months of hard mewing your tongues endurance can be immense

I hard mew during the day and then I passive/natural mew while I'm asleep (though i'm pretty damn sure my passive mewing is a lot stronger than most peoples as a result of hard mewing so much). I think of the former as for expansion and the latter for retaining

I know. The context was the specific statement of "time > force". Regarding the larger context of Mew's philosophy and the sentiment you brought up, Mew is clearly either wrong or protecting his arrse, as others were already saying.

You would have results and be able to maintain them without any additional effort.

This may be wishful thinking. Imagine an athlete saying that once you become fit, you should be able to maintain your fit body with no additional effort. NOTHING in life works like that. It's naive to assume that optimal anatomic function is not going to take effort to maintain. The body will regress as much as you allow it to.

You may not fully appreciate how intensely physical the lifestyle of the pre-agricultural man was. The hunter-gatherer conditions in which the modern man evolved meant strenous daily activity. It was under these conditions that proper growth was routinely achieved and maintained. In contrast to this, the amount of effortlessness you are proposing is comparable to utter laziness.

He had and still dose not, have any evidence for them.

Mike has lots of evidence. What he does not have is proof.

@Helmutstrebl The problem here is not that your bones has remodeled trough hard mewing, you were literally able to grow new bones and coincidentally in the more aesthetic and pleasing way. Anyway undeniable results, but to me it's too hard to believe that such result are possible with just mewing. Im not saying that you are lying i'm just saying that i struggle to believe you.

Another before an after from the front. You just can’t say hard mewing doesn’t work @Abdulrahman

This comparison reminds me of the progress photo of patient zero of Plato's facepulling stuff.

You can see from the front how his face has widened, and his featured are deeper set in his face. This is a result of just pulling the maxilla forwards with external means.

@helmutstrebl has the same sort of face change when you look from the front, apart from that the rotation of his jaw is far more impressive.

I think the reason that it's hard to believe that this is real is because it's so damn impressive. He's gone from a good looking fella to a bloody supermodel, and everyone on this forum has forced themselves to be super modest about the results they expect, that they're only in it to expand their airways. Here's a good indication that you will look better after hard-mewing.

Despite it being incredibly impressive, all the clues I can gather suggest that this is real. I mean, his technique is almost exactly the same as Jamo's, the exalted member of the forums that people always point to as evidence for hard mewing.

If it's all some elaborate prank as some people see it, well I'm okay with being punked. Hahaha

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

Mike never advocated hard mewing but i'll try it and see how it goes. also @helmutstrebl how wide is your palate now? your arches surely would've expanded a few mm

@Hermultstrebl, how strong do you hard mew ? Do you mew as hard as possible or do you firmly apply your tongue, with reasonable strength, against your palate ? Mewing as hard as possible seems too exhausting (and painful) to be done all day long, or even 4 or 5 hours.

you're not meant to or are going to be able to hard mew all day long initially. that takes time before you are strong enough to do so. just work up to it and it becomes second nature.

@Slinky Yes bro my palate has expanded but i’m not sure how much as i don’t have before pics to compare.

@Mangas77 i guess thats why i got good results. I hard mew all the time when i’m awake except eating or talking but the intensity differs, some hours i mew hard af with 100% of my tongue power and some hours i hard mew at like 70-80% but i always hard mew.

There is a correlation vs causation question there. The better development may cause the higher bite force, since the jaws and muscles can operate with their full strength and efficiency in a properly developed skull

@admin Good point, but now that we know chewing causes remodeling of the mandible at any age, it would make sense that chewing would be at least partly responsible for this good facial development? I think there is a consensus that chewing causes lower gonial angles / inclination of the mandibular plane (seen in e.g bruxism patients) which would imply forward growth of both jaws. As far as I know all the evidence we have of why craniofacial dystrophy is so widespread is entirely related to a decrease in masticatory effort. I personally think chewing is very overlooked here because its so simple, but I believe strong, well developed masticatory muscles will guide the development of the entire skull in the right direction. The fact that most attractive people have very good muscle tone supports this idea.

@helmutsrebl when you "chin tuck", do you just push lean your head forward so that your chin recedes into your throat or do you pull the top of your head backwards until your chin recedes? More looking down or pulling back?

I believe that the chin tuck is more about pulling the crown of your head up than about anything else. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

@ohwhatthehell

I would take the advice generally given, and start with pulling the back of your head upwards, this will pull your chin in anyways.

OP has then said that he would sometimes push his chin back further with his fingers to engage an even more extreme chin tuck.

Guys you might want to take a look at this before starting "jihad mewing".

DJHunCo 1

Above is a picture I extracted from his video and matched against his progress pictures. As you see below his face in the video (left) does not look as forward grown as in "after" progress picture (right).

f0lpf6gjad231 2

Now I realize that his face is a little turned away from the camera in the video compared to the "after" progress picture and that can make a face shallower or less forward grown. So I compared it to the "before" progress picture, which also has the face turned away a little from the camera.

click on it to view the gif animation

f0lpf6gjad231 copy giff

The two match very closely. Obviously his hair is longer giving him more volume at the back of the head and of course his neck, chin, and nose look different.

I think this plus the mismatch between the video and "after" progress picture he provided explains the final piece of the puzzle. The chin, lower jaw, and nose are probably a product of fillers. The forward grown face is most likely a result of photoshoping.

PS. I will respond to individual messages soon.

@abdulrahman Are you aware that you are comparing different sides of his face to each other? For someone who has time and time again emphasized the importance of taking photos with identical settings, and readily called pictures that don't fulfill these criteria worthless, your willingness to analyze someone's face based on photos that have not only been taken from different angles and with different lighting, but also from the opposite sides of the face, seems absurd.

@abdulrahman I get that you're trying to check expectations and keep everyone grounded in an evidence-based approach, but you've made your point, and I think your relentless analysis and sarcasm is verging on harassment. We should accept the ambiguity that, while we don't have hard evidence "proving" these results, we certainly can't use that same evidence to "disprove" them. If we are going to harvest pictures of someone that they posted on the internet (ostensibly to help other people) then we should go out of our way to be respectful while scrutinizing them. Maybe everyone is taking the jokes in good fun, but I'm uncomfortable with your "jihad mewing" shtick especially considering his Pakistani heritage. Maybe you yourself are part of a group that gets targeted with "terrorist" mockery and are reappropriating pejoratives, but its a slippery slope and this isn't the place for it. Even if @helmutstrebl is deceiving everyone as you claim, every post from him that I've read has been helpful, respectful, and informative. He's not promoting a youtube channel or trying to get his 15 minutes of fame like some personalities. I think I've also read some comments where he tells people that he hasn't noticed much change in one feature or another. So I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt. Are you worried that people will hurt themselves by pushing too hard with their tongue? I think this risk is mostly self-limiting. My take on "hard mewing" has always been that active tongue pressure works by building up the resting muscle tone so that passive tongue pressure gradually increases over time. So I see some utility in strengthening exercises like "tongue pushups." His routine is more extreme than mine, but I haven't achieved these kind of results so I can't speak with authority if it is a good or bad approach.

Are you aware how much difference (forward growth) he shows between his "before" and "after" pictures?  Do you see how much his face is forward in the giff you personally posted? Do you think it's even possible to have in the same face one side look that different (less forward grown) to the other side? Have you considered how absurd that would be, I did and that is why I never bothered mentioning it, but since you asked I will respond. The forward growth difference presented in his before and after pictures is so big that it makes no difference what side you look at. Right or left he would would look allot more forward than he does in his video.

@abdulrahman I don't think you can determine exactly what angle his head is in each of these photos, which leaves too much room for error in your analysis.

What's more constructive - what evidence would he need to provide to convince you?

Sure I can, stop the "jihad mewing" part, but I see no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand if you noticed I did not respond to his direct messages to avoid confrontation. I let him share his comments without direct interference from me.

By the way the whole joke started having nothing to do with his heritage, it had more to do with people describing his dedication as "religious". I thought it was funny that people would put that kind of effort just in the plight of getting girls, hence the none-virgins part of the joke.

Yes. You are committing the very same mistake you have accused me of committing in the past, only in this case the situation is reversed: instead of me using inaccurate pictures to demonstrate change, you are using inaccurate pictures to disprove change. Is this unintentional or intentional bias?

Do you think it's even possible to have in the same face one side look that different (less forward grown) to the other side?

Very much so. Give it a try.

I answered he same question in an earlier post.

The angles are obvious especially from his eye brows. The point I made in response to progress is that when you present that much expansion on one side of your face there is no way the other side of the face isn't going to show close to that level of expansion. This guy is presenting expansion upwards of 2cm on his left side. There is no way his right side isn't going to show no expansion as it does in his video. That's one major mismatch between the two sides of his face and the front pictures do not show any mismatch like that.

No, I am not because I made those comments in response to tracking progress of small mewing changes. A couple mm at most. I pointed out that it's very easy to miss or confuse those small differences with different angles and lighting. I also argued that you almost always see the difference in surgery cases even when the angles are not consistent, why? Because they are real and more dramatic than just a couple mm. You can find all of this in the topic that was about if anyone saw changes, it was a long topic.

Very much so. Give it a try.

I am not sure what you mean by give it a try, but I pointed out that that would not be possible in my response to drukenwithcoffee. Its the comment right before this one.

No, because I did my own analysis and superimposed the pictures. It just serves as a reminder to you to check the gif you posted to realize how much forward growth there is. And I am not saying it's a perfect example either, it's a just an example you posted that shows so much forward growth. Good for you to realize what I am alluding to.

I believe you. Still, the point remains: the pics you are using to invalidate his growth are so awkwardly different that I can't really find any explanation to how you justify to yourself using them as the basis for your point. Surely you see how much the head is rotating between the pics, as hinted by the amount of change in the visibility of the posterior cranium:

Then regarding the latter comparison you created, isn't this pretty much in line with the changes Ronald Ead experienced from FAGGA, in that the two lower thirds grew forward and slightly downward?

Yes I already acknowledge this in my original post about this specific comparison. That's why I never made a gif of those two pictures.

Lining up the pictures does not give a good direct comparison, but did you notice how closely it matches his "before" picture. The face angle is almost the same and the forward growth is exactly the same but of course the neck, lower jaw, chin, and nose changed.

There is no way his before and video pictures will match like that with all that massive forward expansion he is presenting in his after picture.

Then regarding the latter comparison you created, isn't this pretty much in line with the changes Ronald Ead experienced from FAGGA, in that the two lower thirds grew forward and slightly downward?

Ronald's changes are specific to his alveolar ridge, and much of it is tipping. His skeletal maxilla didn't change. This guy's entire face, maxilla, forehead, everything just zoomed out.

I mentioned earlier that I didn't know what was going on until I started matching the video to his after pictures, but I knew something was not right and the chin was the first clue.

Going through so many, fagga, surgery, Orthotropics cases with children nothing was like this.

No, look at Ronald Ead's mid-face and nose in particular here (I know, the head tilts aren't quite identical here either):

Note also how his chin grew too. How much larger could it have become, had his teeth not been tipped forward? Anyway, now take another look at your gif. I colorcorrected it a bit so that the change in the nasal area is better seen:

There are similarities in how both of their mid-faces experienced a downward movement. I'm not sure if it's even appropriate to call this change forward expansion per se. It seems more like re-structuring of some kind. Or de-compression. I don't know, it's fascinating how simultaneously complex yet subtle it all seems (given that we are fine with assuming that the photos are reasonably identical).

A key principle in Bayesian reasoning is that the likelihood of an occurrence depends not only on the strength of the evidence for it, but on the initial probability prior to seeing the evidence (aka prior probability). In other words, the more extraordinary a claim is, the more extraordinary the evidence you need. In this case, this is an extraordinary amount and pattern of growth being claimed, so the evidence should be extraordinary.

To figure out how extraordinary these claims are, let's think about what the "prior probability" would be. What amount/pattern of growth would you have considered likely before viewing this thread? What would have initially predicted as a good example of Mewing results, and would it have looked anything like this case?

I believe that if we had asked this forum what was possible from adult Mewing, the estimates would have been much more modest than this, which is far beyond other Mewing results, and even beyond results we have seen from appliances. (Jamo's case is the only one that is remotely close, but that case is so badly documented that I prefer to suspend judgment on it.) If we had asked people here which landmarks would be most likely to change from adult Mewing, they would probably talk about the maxilla, hyoid position, masseters, cheekbones, the mandible position, and the gonial angle, ramus and condyle (for instance, AstroSky's results). I don't think anyone would have thought of Mewing as causing large growth to the very tip of the chin like in the case under discussion; that's just not a landmark that people have historically associated with Mewing results.

What is more likely: that we are seeing a case of adult Mewing with an amount and locations of growth that is highly unusual, using a technique different from Mike Mew's and overshooting any appliance... or that there is some element other than Mewing behind these results? The more this case overshoots your estimates of what Mewing could accomplish, or diverges from the growth pattern that you would have predicted from Mewing, then the more skepticism you should hold.

Now that we have discussed the prior probability of this case (extraordinary), we will next discuss whether there are any reasons to disbelieve the evidence provided: what could produce these results other than the claimed protocol. Fillers is one possibility, or even a chin implant. Here is an example of chin fillers that is less drastic than the chin changes in the original case, which are claimed to be from Mewing:

(Source.)

Can anyone look at chin filler results and say that they don't see a resemblance to the claimed results in this case?

What are the chances of someone having fillers for aesthetics and then claiming that it is Mewing? I don't know, but what I do know is that anyone who has been on lookism forums does have knowledge of fillers. Remember, in the lookism world, they are constantly discussing surgical and cosmetic procedures. This makes it less unlikely for a guy to get fillers for aesthetic reasons.

Another concern raised by @abdulrahman is that there may be Photoshopping involved in the after stills. We can't say for certain whether there is, because we don't have comparisons from exactly the same angle. But something important to know is that Photoshopping "morphs" are very popular on lookism forums, to visualize guys with better facial development. A serious user of these forums would have the capability of making more forward-grown Photoshop morphs.

Here is an example of a lookism Photoshop morph, and anyone who could create this morph could create a more subtle and believable version.

Can we say conclusively that the results claimed in this thread are fake? That is not what I am trying to say, and I have given Mewing credit for some changes, like improving the hyoid area. But this pattern of results is extraordinary and unusual relative to our expectations of adult Mewing. Certain changes here are more consistent with fillers than with Mewing. While we can't prove that deception is present, the ability to deceive would exist, due to support from certain other forums. Even the people here who are inclined to believe that the results are all from Mewing should admit that these are not the results they would have predicted and that there is room for doubt and for alternative explanations other than what is claimed.

Here's what I am seeing: Ronald show big changes to lip support and nasolabial angle. But the case in this thread does not show those changes. Instead, the changes are the chin massively projecting out, the body of the mandible looking longer, and the hyoid rising up. The hyoid rising up is plausibly the result of Mewing, but the other changes are strange. So far, Mewing has not been considered a method of growing the bony prominence of the chin. The chin projection cannot be caused by the mandible moving forward, because the lower lip hasn't changed. Also, in adults the kind of changes to the mandible we would expect would be remodeling to the condyle, ramus, and gonial angle, not changes to the body of the mandible.

@james thanks for joining in

Can anyone look at chin filler results and say that they don't see a resemblance to the claimed results in this case?

Consider that the premise is that mewing results in anatomically correct, proportional growth. Due to this, you may be putting the cart before the horse: it's not that his results resemble filler, but it's the fillers that are intended to resemble proper growth. The isolated features (such as the chin) of whoever achieves proper growth should thus appear indistinguishable from good filler work.

Here's what I am seeing: Ronald show big changes to lip support and nasolabial angle. But the case in this thread does not show those changes. [...]

It's good to note that, although I highlighted the similarities in the changes of both faces, FAGGA is a hugely different procedure than mewing. As Abdul said, FAGGA moves the teeth forward. Mewing does not necessarily do this. In my case, something akin to the opposite has happened. Instead of the face moving forward, it's the cranial base that has been expanding backward. Due to this, the facial features have more room to sit in the splanchocranium, resulting in aesthetically pleasing reduction of protrusion.

The chin projection cannot be caused by the mandible moving forward, because the lower lip hasn't changed.

To me it looks like his lower lip has changed though, this set makes the change more apparent:

Also, in adults the kind of changes to the mandible we would expect would be remodeling to the condyle, ramus, and gonial angle, not changes to the body of the mandible.

What is this expectation based on? Mandible, in the end, is one bone. Is it logical to assume that as such it would only be subject to remodelling in specific locations of the bone? If gonial angle can change significantly, why not the chin? Could  the gonial angle even change without affecting the chin? In addition, a change of this caliber would likely redistribute the occlusional forces too, possibly increasing the masticatory load on the chin. The lower incisors could also tip inward due to the maxillary rotation, allowing the chin to project more. I recall helmut also saying that his chin has a soft padding now, hinting towards possible mentalis hypertrophy (inb4 "or a filler").

What amount/pattern of growth would you have considered likely before viewing this thread? What would have initially predicted as a good example of Mewing results, and would it have looked anything like this case?

As pretentious as it feels to say this, his changes are in line with what I have been expecting since the days of claimingpower. I never understood when some say that mewing can only bring small changes. Well if it can create small changes, then what exactly is stopping it from creating large changes?  It would be more believable to assert that mewing can't bring any changes at all, than to claim that there is some magical point between you and harmonious cranial structure that can't be passed. I honestly fully believe that close to optimal growth is achievable by almost anyone even at an adult age. If I get proven wrong, feel free to laugh at me, for I have deserved it.

@progress OK, I see that someone who is a big believer in adult Mewing could be expecting a case with results as large as this to eventually show up. That's not quite what I was intending with my question, though, so allow me to rephrase. My question is less about the maximum changes that might hopefully be possible, and more a question about what are the typical changes that we would predict from adult Mewing, based on the results that we have seen so far. And what parts of the face would be changing the most. I think that the answer to this question would describe growth much more modest than what we are seeing in the claimed case.

Another related question would be, what do you think are the chances of someone replicating these results by following the same protocol?

As for expectations of growth, the default assumption—which needs to be challenged—is that facial bones can't grow in adults. We know that this isn't true, and we have seen bone remodeling in cases of appliances, but the sites at which remodeling occur seem to be limited. Remodeling of the dentoalveolar area, condyle, and ramus is claimed in cases of appliances. Mew has made claims of people improving cheekbones as adults. I have never seen claims of dramatically growing the chin point or the body of the mandible with appliances or adult Mewing prior to this. So I think the burden should be on showing that such changes are possible, not on showing that it is impossible.

Also, don't forget that most people with growth appliances are also Mewing. How is someone who is only Mewing getting larger results than someone who is Mewing with an appliance giving them more space to Mew? Why have people Mewing with appliances not been able to get changes of this magnitude, especially to unlikely areas like the chin? Is everyone just doing Mewing completely wrong except for the person discussed in this case, which explains their inferior results, including the hard-Mewers? Or is something else going on here?

In the case of the chin, Mew says that mentalis growth will hide the bony point of the chin, so hard tissue is the only explanation of the bony chin prominence. Mewing also does not activate the mentalis, and in fact, Mew sees mentalis activation as parafunctional behavior to be eliminated.

To fully believe in the results in this thread, we have to believe that adult Mewing can now do stuff that has not claimed/documented before, and beyond the achievements of other people, even with appliance. We also have to go beyond Mew's own claims, which are only about soft-Mewing (aka Mewing). For another example of contrast, compare the changes in this case with the changes you are claiming in your case about expansion of the cranial base backward, which is different from this case where the chin is growing forward. Why would adult Mewing be accomplishing something totally different in your case from his?

I'm not saying that it's impossible for Mewing to have different results in different people, but the scientific problem is that the more propositions we have to accept, the more large and varied the results attributed to adult Mewing are, then the harder to believe it is, when in the absence of hard documentation. Either this is an unprecedented, earth-shattering result that will change what is considered possible with Mewing—or there is more here than meets the eye. We may not be able to resolve the debate over this, but what we can all do is stay on the lookout for whether there are replications of this magnitude of results (ideally with less debatable documentation). Because if it works, then there should be.

@James you make a lot of good points. About evaluating priors it's hard because we don't have any appliances which imitate what the tongue does, nor do we know of anyone who has put in the kind of heroic effort that @helmutstrebl has. He's kind of a unique case.

> How is someone who is only Mewing getting larger results than someone who is Mewing with an appliance giving them more space to Mew?

If we take him at his word, he's not only mewing, he's chin tucking at max for 4-5 hours a day.

> In the case of the chin, Mew says that mentalis growth will hide the bony point of the chin, so hard tissue is the only explanation of the bony chin prominence.

I don't think this follows, as none of us has touched @helmustrebl's chin to know if it's bony or not.

> For another example of contrast, compare the changes in this case with the changes you are claiming in your case about expansion of the cranial base backward, which is different from this case where the chin is growing forward. Why would adult Mewing be accomplishing something totally different in your case from his?

To answer on behalf of @Progress, these aren't exclusive from each other. Both could be happening in both cases, albeit to different degrees. We don't know about @helmutstrebl's cranial base (do we?) and signs point to (possibly) a growth in @Progress's chin.

> I'm not saying that it's impossible for Mewing to have different results in different people, but the scientific problem is that the more propositions we have to accept, the more large and varied the results attributed to adult Mewing are, then the harder to believe it is, when in the absence of hard documentation.

I agree with the feelings behind this post. But given how many ways there are for the teeth, jaw, face, and cranium to go wrong, it's not surprising that due to variance in technique and starting conditions you get variance in the results. I don't think extra assumptions are required, nor am I sure which extra assumptions you're referring to.

I posted what I consider to be a comparably dramatic change here: /community/community/case-discussions/another-interesting-case-from-reddit-2-years/ but it hardly got any attention. His entire skull changed shape and over a similar time period (2 years at ages 25-27). I'm not sure why this didn't make a splash like the case under discussion here, nor does anyone seem to be disputing those results.

@skinnyboiii, I want to specifically address the subject of the chin. This post by Abdulrahman shows that the point of the chin has grown relative to the lips. There are only a few possibilities of what could cause this: bone growth, muscle growth, or fillers. It can't be muscle, because that would be the mentalis muscle, which Mew says will hide a pointy chin (link in my previous post).

For that other case you link to, the changes look a lot more natural. In fact, I think in the before picture, he was straining his mentalis causing his chin to be flat, and in the after picture, the mentalis has relaxed (which Mew says can reveal the point of the chin). It's also possible that his mandible has rotated around forward, whereas forward rotation of the mandible comes nowhere near explaining the cartoonish chin changes in this thread.

Also, remember that I have said that there could possibly be changes in his face from Mewing; what I am disputing is whether Mewing can explain all of the changes.

This is indeed a unique case. But the more unique it is, the less likely it is, and the less willing we should be to take it on someone's word without scans, molds, or photos from the same lighting/angle.

My question is less about the maximum changes that might hopefully be possible, and more a question about what are the typical changes that we would predict from adult Mewing, based on the results that we have seen so far. And what parts of the face would be changing the most.

This is kind of an inconvenient question, not unlike asking what are the typical results of working out and what parts of the musculature would be changing the most. The short answer would be: it depends. There are likely several ways in which the cranium can lose it's optimal structure. After all, there are over 20 bones in your head, most of them either directly or indirectly dependent on the support of the oral & cervical musculature.

In general, the splanchocranial base, in which the facial features sit, should open up in a manner that allows every feature to assume its proper position in the face. In this way, the tongue is almost like a drill that carves itself ever deeper into the foundations of the face. This may translate to more dominant brow, enlargened eyesockets and consequent deepened eyes, reduction of dorsal hump and nasal prominence, hollow cheeks and horizontalization of the occlusion and the consequent mandibular changes, to name a few.

Those are good questions and I find myself asking them too. At the moment, I think that several things need to come together in order for one to achieve results. Certainly, getting anywhere with mewing is not as simple as just slapping the tongue on the palate and going on with your day. You would need to figure out how the tongue interacts with your jaw, neck and cranial base, and after that, how to generate sufficient anatomical tensegrity between these locations. It's not just that you have to mew hard or correctly, you have to do both at the same time. When the underlying skeletal structure is not already supportive to proper functioning of the musculature, learning to correctly implement the mechanics involved in mewing can be a task more difficult than many realize. You can spend months thinking you 'got it', only to later realize how lackluster your technique actually was. This has been my experience for the last 3 years. You have to constantly re-learn and strive to an even higher level of functioning. Most mornings you start up slightly behind where you were the previous night. If you spend a few days slacking, the hole you will have to climb out of tends to deepen as your former postural habits begin to kick back in.

So we must ask: of all who are mewing, how many are really doing all of this to the required extent? Both jamo and helmut have been almost obsessive about their own journeys. I am not far from that myself either. Even among the active posters on this forum, the ones who are doing everything they can to understand and improve their bodies are a tiny minority.

For another example of contrast, compare the changes in this case with the changes you are claiming in your case about expansion of the cranial base backward, which is different from this case where the chin is growing forward. Why would adult Mewing be accomplishing something totally different in your case from his?

No I think the same thing is happening to him too. As we can see in the pics, oral posture drives the cervical spine and the splanchocranium away from each other which, the way I see it, unwinds the posterior maxilla by pulling it down to a more horizontal angle. The lowering maxillary molars will then urge the mandible down and forward, but in order to move so, the anterior part of the manbibular alveoral has to adapt, lest it be blocked by the maxillary incisors. This would mean that the mandible itself shifts forward more than the mandibular teeth, leading to the increased chin prominence. This mechanism might also have a secondary purpose of squeezing the mandibular wisdom teeth out of the gums (and molars&pre-molars earlier in life), but that may be a bit out there. All I know is that the mechanisms of teething aren't fully understood, and that this kind of mechanic explanation would be such an alluring Occam's razor.

I'm not saying that it's impossible for Mewing to have different results in different people, but the scientific problem is that the more propositions we have to accept, the more large and varied the results attributed to adult Mewing are, then the harder to believe it is, when in the absence of hard documentation. We may not be able to resolve the debate over this, but what we can all do is stay on the lookout for whether there are replications of this magnitude of results (ideally with less debatable documentation). Because if it works, then there should be.

Yes, time will hopefully provide the much needed answer here.

It would be interesting to see photos of him in action rather than displaying results. Extreme chin tucking and hard mewing both sound as if they involve a large amount of muscular effort and who knows what muscles are recruited to that effort. One way to make the chin protrude would be to move the lower dental arch back. This might happen at the base of the teeth even if they are also tipping out. I pay heed to Frankel.

Those are opposing examples. Ronald's Pg point (the most prominent point on his chin) didn't move forward one bit relative to the lower lip.

The lower lip moved forward, and more importantly the upper lip moved forward to allow the lower jaw to move forward. As I explained in my previous post none of that happened in this guy's case. His chin just poked out relative to other landmarks exactly as happens with fillers, genoplasty, and implants procedures.

Heh, perhaps. It's noteworthy that in this case the chin came forward as well (although, not as much as @helmutstrebl's). This is something you apparently noticed.

If 9mm of palatal expansion, visible reduction of maxillary protrusion and improved shape of the neurocranium is "almost nothing" to you, there is not much I can enlighten you with. I am not trying to be a posterboy for mewing, nor a walking proof. I simply have a strong confidence in what is physically possible, and I'm dedicated to getting there.

Lets imagine you undergo a hair transplant surgery because you are bald. When you are finished, you find that you are still bald, but your nose isnt crooked and big anymore. In that sense, the surgery did nothing for you.
Obviously thats completely exagerated but you get my point. I dont know if the sole purpose of your "mewing journey" was to widen your palate. But most people mew to achieve what helmut appereantly achieved. Forward growth. A better, sharper jawline. A more prominent chin. Bigger cheekbones and all that stuff. To look better. I see nothing of that happening to you.
If im being being honest, i was just very discouraged when i saw your progression thread. Because i really believe that you mewed this entire time, and mewed correctly. And I just dont see any change. You say "9mm of palatal expansion, visible reduction of maxillary protrusion and improved shape of the neurocranium" but all these things seem to be miniscule because they dont seem to have any significant effect on facial appereance. And give the time put into mewing, i would say they are indeed "nothing". 4 years is such a long time, exspecially when you are young. Maybe that doesnt matter to you because you look like a normal guy, but there are people out there with CFD much much worse than yours

Im just saying, almost everyone who comes into these forums and almost everyone who starts mewing are doing it to look better. I dont think anyone expects (or even wants) to end up looking like a model. But most people atleast hope to start looking "normal". Or atleast have ANY significant change in appereance. So they can stop worrying about their face and just be content with how they look.
Maybe thats Mike Mews fault. He started talking about models, sharp jawlines and beauty with his hole mewing concept. He talks about mewing, answers questions, provides proof in children. But he never really explained to the world just how impossible it might be for adults.
As i said a few times, this one 20 year old woman from john mews website is the only adult i have ever seen where i can say she truly did have significant change in her facial appereance from "mewing". She was 20 years old. Who knows, maybe 20-21 years is the last time you can achieve anything with mewing.
I remember when i was 20-21 and i mewed for a few days, i had severe, brace-like pain in all of my molars and a change in how my front teeth touch each other, after just a single day of hard mewing. Now that im mewing correctly and for months now, i dont have that pain anymore as a fresh 24 year old.

I also dont know why my text is messed up like that.

@bundfalke Your expectations are unrealistic.  Your surgery analogy is completely off base because it assumes the surgery has been completed.  The reality is that Progress is at the very beginning, where the first few hairs have just been transplanted (or however hair loss surgery works, I'm not an expert).

Transformation is a process that will take a decade, if not decades, for most.  If you're hoping to become a model in 2-3 years, you're in for some disappointment.

I don't know how anyone could look at Progress' pics and say he has achieved "almost nothing."  The beginning stages of change are undeniable.

@Progress

Because i really believe that you mewed this entire time, and mewed correctly.

I understand your frustration if this is your premise. Let me tell you: I am not sure if I'm mewing correctly even now. People don't seem to comprehend how difficult proper oral posture really is in the larger postural context. Most of the work I have been doing in the last three years has been ab0ut establishing the anatomical groundwork for efficient mewing, and about understanding the fundamental principles behind it. I  half-deliberately took the long road: I have been experimenting with various ways of holding my tongue, head and jaw, some of which have either stalled my progress or even set me back, others which have brought fast improvements, and used all of these to deepen my understanding of the cranial dynamics.

I want to emphasize that I started from a difficult position. I had never had proper posture. Consider that all the postural deficiencies, asymmetries and imbalances have to be addressed simultaneously before you can begin to achieve significant improvements through endogenous means. The body generally likes to function as a singular unit, thus you can only get as far as your weakest link lets you (or risk injuring yourself). When the whole body consists of nothing but weak links, the work is going to have to be slow and meticulous.

Someone who is fixing an adulthood relapse of previously good posture and structure will fare much better. We know that physiologically structural changes can take place in a matter of weeks to months. If I knew everything I know now, I suspect I could achieve the same results in about 6 months. As I have said before, it's not that achieving cranial changes is slow in itself, but rather the real obstacle is getting to a point where triggering such changes becomes feasible.

I understand that this may all come off as a massive excuse, but it'd be a real shame if you let my case to discourage you from improving your own life.

I stated that most people dont expect or even want to look like a model, including myself. People want to look normal, that is all.  CFD is not normal. Its a deformity of the most significant part of your face. And they dont want to look normal in 30 years years. They want to look normal as soon as possible, so they can stop worrying about their faces.

Well i do. I look at Progress pictures and i see almost nothing. And if i do see anything, its nothing that cant be attributed to his beard or the lighting.

I dont know how old you are and what attitude you have towards life. People want to make the best out of every day they have. No one wants to spend years and decades hating his own face because "oh well in 30 years my chin will be 2cm more forward than now".

My expectations are unrealistic, but they are very very reasonable from a human point of view, because years and exspecially a decade make up a very large part of a humans life. And believe it or not, but humans are very shallow which is why even good looking people are ready to spend a large sum of money, time and effort on their appereance. If you ever made the transformation from unattractive to attractive you would know just how much of a big impact appereance makes on your life. And its depressing to be aware just how much better and happier your life could be.

Its hard for me to explain but i hope you understand what im trying to say. You have to look at this whole subject from a relative viewpoint. This subject is a superficial one. And we are not forest rangers who worry about not having any trees to cut down in 500 years.

Again, i hope you understand what im trying to say.

@Progress

"I understand that this may all come off as a massive excuse, but it'd be a real shame if you let my case to discourage you from improving your own life. "

No. Correct oral and neck/body posture is a good thing not matter what. Its how its supposed to be which is why im going to keep doing it for the rest of my life.

@bundfalke

what was causing the pain. clenching?

Did you ever had braces? Braces give you a special kind of pain/discomfort in your teeth.

I think it was in Winter 2015 (20 years old) where i was trying out mewing. I remember i was sitting infront of my computer reading a PDF book about C++. I was tongue chewing the entire day really. Rolling and moving my tongue against my palate the entire time. And suddenly i got this insane "brace-like" pain in all of my molars. I was very impressed and surprised.

Then a few days later, i noticed that my front teeth dont touch each other same way they used to do. I dont know about you, but i just know where and how my front teeth touch each other. So if theres any change in that and for example, one upper and lower front tooh start touching each other (or lose their touch) even though they didnt before, you are going to notice that immediately.

And no i was never clenching my teeth.

Well thats what happened. Strong "brace-like" pain in all of my molars in just the first few days. I stopped mewing shortly after for no reason really.

Then, in summer 2017 (22 years old) when i was doing a apprenticeship, i was sitting in class and for no special reason started hard mewing/intense tongue chewing and after a hour, i got intense "brace-like" pain in all of my molars again. It felt like i just visited my orthodontist who tensed up the wire on my braces and resulted in teeth pain. It was the same kind of pain.

Fast-forward 2 years later (24 years old) , i started doing mewing again (3 months ago now) and im getting no pain or sensation at all, even though i stuck to it for a lot longer than in previous time.

I started taking Mk677 (growth hormone and igf-1) at the beginning of the year for reasons which have nothing to do with my face or appereance.  IGF-1 and GH are known to increase bone density, so maybe thats why im getting no pain now. Maybe my maxilla is too "stiff" or "hard" now. At the same time IGF-1 and GH increase bone turn-over rate/bone remodelling.

@bundfalke I understand where you're coming from.  I also want to look normal, it's a completely reasonable desire.  But changing your facial structure is a huge thing to ask from the universe, and you can't expect everyone to be able to achieve that in 2-3 years.  If you're not willing to put in the work on a 10 year timeline, what makes you think you will be ever be able to achieve it?  Maybe things change for you much faster, but it's the mentality that matters.

Every orthotropic doctor has emphasized that IMW expansion comes first, then maxilla and mandible movement (if at all).  If you can't see Progress is clearly laying down the foundation for future improvement, then I don't know what will convince you.

I think you are wrong. Here is a comparison of Pg-Li line for both Ead and Helmut. In terms of the dynamics of this line alone, the changes are somewhat similar. As far as other mandibular markesrs go, B-point stays the same and Gn&Me undergo a shift in both:

This gif is wrong. You are drawing a line on differently tilted faces. This will give inconsistent results. Match the tilt of both faces and draw a line from a fixed point like the nasion. Or use angles on specific soft tissue points to show a relationship. If I knew which pictures you used in that gif for Ead I would have done it.

Besides, you completely ignored my main point, which was the skeletal changes in Ead's middle-face.

I didn't, I told you Ead's changes are in the alveolar ridge. His teeth moved forward giving more space to jut his lower jaw forward. It' similar to le fort 1 surgery in that you see it only changing the lower part of the upper jaw.

Sorry, the expansion you show in your pictures is not 9mm, it's much less. I have my doubts about those the other claims.

Your claim was that there was no movement of chin in relation to lower lip. This relationship is measured by the Li-Pg line, agree? Now Li-Pg relationship stays the same regardless of the facial tilt. Any possible tilt in the pictures is thus irrelevant. What we can deduce from the comparison is a somewhat equal advancement of chin in relation to the lower lip, beyond the originally established Li-Pg lines.

The Ead's pictures I used were the week zero and week 44 ones which you can find by googlin Ronald Ead.

I didn't, I told you Ead's changes are in the alveolar ridge. His teeth moved forward giving more space to jut his lower jaw forward. It' similar to le fort 1 surgery in that you see it only changing the lower part of the upper jaw.

First off, the fracturing in le fort extends all the way to the nasal septum, not just the alveolar ridge. Practically the whole lower half of the maxilla gets advanced. Alveolar ridge in turn is about half of the lower half of the maxilla. Secondly, the mid-maxillary changes in Ead's case appear to go even further than the nasal septum, unless we assume that all observable difference is explained by unidenticality of camera angle.

Now, without going into further arguments regarding what did and did not change in Ead's case, all I am saying is that his mid-face appears to have changed in similar fashion as Helmut's.

Sorry, the expansion you show in your pictures is not 9mm, it's much less. I have my doubts about those the other claims.

Thank you for your boundless wisdom.

If you draw a line you need consistent head tilt, if you draw an angle that is not needed. Ronald Ead's pictures have big changes in tilt because of his forward head correction. I will get the pictures, realign them, and post the gif.

First off, the fracturing in le fort extends all the way to the nasal septum, not just the alveolar ridge. Practically the whole lower half of the maxilla gets advanced. Alveolar ridge in turn is about half of the lower half of the maxilla. Unlike the standard le fort fracture presented in diagrams the cut in surgeries is made at the very base of the nasal septum just above the teeth roots and alveolar ridge. This covers 1/3rd of the maxilla length. Ronald's changes are specific to alveolar ridge and don't extend above the A point by much if any. I will make the illustration showing this along with the gif for the chin.

Thank you for your boundless wisdom.

Well, that has nothing to do with wisdom, it has to do with knowledge. Going through many pictures of lateral expansion and learning from other cases, yours does not look as big as 9mm. There is certainly expansion but not as wide as you report in those picture, but if you are willing to listen to me about wisdom we would avoid this part of the discussion.

As I mentioned before everyone in this forum including you need some professional help to understand their case and track their progress. But you dismissed that on the grounds that you are a "pioneer" and embarking on something new that no one understands or can quantify yet.

No, but you obviously haven't seen my post about my orthodontist measuring my inter molar width and getting it wrong. It's very easy to be off by several mm especially when you don't know what you are doing.

There is another forum user who claimed he achieved 10mm. His claims were so impressive that other users started taking tips from him on how to achieve such results. One year later he posted that after checking his measurements it turned out his inter molar width was 10mm below his measurement.

This is something I expected because several of his claims didn't add up, but more importantly his attitude and that of others on this forum conveys a great level of disregard for professional standards and practices.

In fact, he himself professed once that orthodontics is essentially useless. You can't trust people with that kind of attitude and view to know what they are talking about.

Here is the gif.

44+Weeks+Side+Profile copy

Its clear where the expansion took place. Primarily in the upper alveolar ridge. Some will call this tipping and there certainly is some significant amount. It's obvious from the nasolabial angle, but also the "Sn" point moved forward relative to the nose indicating he achieved some forward expansion in his alveolar ridge. That point and everything below it represent 1/3 the maxilla.

The chin "Pg" has moved forward as well, but the lips moved further more. This is not the case with "Helmut's" chin. His chin projected forward without his lips changing much. That's the kind of effect you get from cosmetic procedures.

One last note, the position of the ears in the gif is the same, but the height is not. This is due to the pictures being taken at different heights.

Not sure if it was your intention, but this comes off as little more than a condescending strawman. Me carving my own path has little to do with my apathy towards scientifically legitimate methods of measuring change. The former is motivated by curiosity, the latter by poverty.

It's very easy to be off by several mm especially when you don't know what you are doing.

It's very difficult to be off by several mm if you are paying any attention at all. An error margin of 1 mm is achievable at home. It is possible that the change in my imw is 1-2 mm less than what I have measured... but if you insist it must be even more than that, that's just you.

Here is the gif.

You drew a line at N-Pg axis. Your claim was:

Ronald's Pg point (the most prominent point on his chin) didn't move forward one bit relative to the lower lip.

What you are higlighting in the gif is how much Sn, Li, Ls and Pg are moving in relation to the nasion (N). Which is a completely different thing than chin (Pg) moving in relation to lower lip (Li), no?

but more importantly his attitude and that of others on this forum conveys a great level of disregard for professional standards and practices.

Correct. Talking about professional practicioners getting a simple measurement off by huge margins does not generate high regard.

I admit: I am pathologically contrarian by nature. It is a quality that comes with its own virtues and vices. Our approaches couldn't be more different from each other, so it's not surprising that we clash a lot.

One last note, the position of the ears in the gif is the same, but the height is not. This is due to the pictures being taken at different heights.

Good that you confirmed this.

I promise to read your reply, should you write one,  but I won't be answering to it since we are no longer discussing Helmut's case.

Do you recognize the problem with talking about progress and not having proper records? Because you are not just debating ideas and concepts, you are advocating for your own method of treatment while not having the least basic set of records to show what is happening with you.

It's very difficult to be off by several mm if you are paying any attention at all. An error margin of 1 mm is achievable at home. It is possible that the change in my imw is 1-2 mm less than what I have measured... but if you insist it must be even more than that, that's just you.

Not really, considering you could be measuring completely wrong. Just a question how are you able to measure inside your mouth between the narrowest points in your first molars without a dental cast? Are you aware that according to Mike Mew most people get this measurement incorrectly even with a cast?

Here is an important clarification. I don't know your exact starting or current IMW from the pictures you posted but I know the difference between the two does not amount to 9mm. That amount of expansion will look huge compared to what you are showing.

The line you see coming down from the nasion is called the facial plane. It serves as a fixed point for comparing the movement of other points. You can disregard it and look at Pg and Li points. They both move forward but notice how the lower lip "Li" moves forward more than the chin "Pg". This indicates they both moved forward but relative to each other the chin has not moved forward of the lip.

Correct. Talking about professional practicioners getting a simple measurement off by huge margins does not generate high regard.

Please don't twist my words I did not say that. Your fellow forum member got his measurement off by a huge margin, not my orthodontist. He, with all his expertise, still got it wrong when he used a none standard method to measure and got it right when he used standard method with a dental cast.

I admit: I am pathologically contrarian by nature. It is a quality that comes with its own virtues and vices. Our approaches couldn't be more different from each other, so it's not surprising that we clash a lot.

This problem shows in many of the ideas you promote on the forum.

I promise to read your reply, should you write one,  but I won't be answering to it since we are no longer discussing Helmut's case

Up to you but please note that many of those unrelated points were in response to points that you brought up.

CBCT x-rays are very useful because they can be done with pretty consistent settings. CT scans are the best but produce too much radiation. And of course they would need to have them before and after to compare the changes.

If he really was feeling unaccepted by his close friends and family why would he come on such a forum and start to lie about his progress. Most people here claimed a lot of things about his face and what he did, he certainly doesn’t feel more accepted if it was the purpose of this post. A lot of other people had big results on other forum and here, they all used surgery and lied about their changes ? That seems more hard to believe than the fact that they simply had huge changes.

I aligned all three images.

The difference is obvious, however there is something that went unmentioned (as far as I can tell) which is that in the latest photo his head is rotated just slightly (you can tell by the ear and the presence of the brow on the opposite side) which gives the impression that his face moved more forward than it actually did. I believe he was *ever so slightly* turned away from the camera in the first two pictures. In any case, the slight rotation does not take away too much from the very real difference. I'd like to kindly ask @helmutstrebl to take another picture (if possible) hat has the same rotation as the first two pictures for a more accurate comparison. This might assuage the skeptics as well.

@skinnyboiii

The change that I take in count more is the straighter nose, because It may be an indicator of the advancement of the maxilla, supporting it more.

I tried this trick photoshopping my face trying to straighten my nose advancing the maxilla way before this guy updated his progress. This Is what I got

ezgif.com gif to apng

I had to reduce the gonial angle to make up for upswing i simulated

He doesn' have any product nor service to sell so why going that far if it was a lie?

Aligning the mandibles gives a different point of view on @helmustrebl's changes:

case2 4

1. Notice how the muscular balance in the neck shifts from front to back

2. The entire cranium moves back and up away from the jawline

3. Ear position changes

@greekgodbrody, @abdulrahman, @Progress,

I don't think @helmutstrebl's chin actually changed that much. I worked from the starting guess that the mandible didn't actually change in length as a result of mewing. I lined up the chins and voila:

case2 6

Notice how the total jaw length doesn't actually appear to change (well at least not obviously -- it's difficult to tell.) Notice also how the SCM sternum tendon and chin are in the same relative position from picture to picture. You can see the expected shortening of the anterior neck muscles and strengthening of the posterior ones. You can also see that from this point of view, the entire upper part of the face/head moves upwards and backwards with respect to the jaw. The chin only changes ever so slightly. If he got a chin implant, you'd think the length of the entire mandible would be different. But it isn't obviously different.

case2 5

Here you can see that the head, neck, and camera have a different relationship than in the first two images. His mouth may even have been slightly open in the B&W picture. His head is rotated slightly towards the camera in this one.You can tell by the ears and by the mandibular angle. The change is more consistent with a rotation of the head than any dramatic facial remodeling, though by the looks of it there has been some between these two pictures.

His initial pictures give the impression that his chin is getting bigger, but I have the feeling something more nuanced is happening.

Man, the more I see comments like this, the more I feel like it's just haters hating. I mean, y'all can feel free to be skeptical, but this isn't skepticism, it's pessimism.

No one batted an eye -- or hardly even commented -- on the other case I posted ( /community/community/case-discussions/another-interesting-case-from-reddit-2-years/) which shows even more dramatic changes in the cranium than this case, and in an older person too. But he didn't get model-handsome, so...

There was no change in his face that couldn't be attributed to mewing -- none of the changes were so dramatic that they were impossible. We are talking millimeters of change, everywhere. That's it. And he is the only one we know who claims to hard mew 24/7 and chin tuck hours per day.

If this were faked, tell me: how? Was it plastic surgery? If so, did he have them move his ears too, and correct his neck posture? Did he tell them to move his front teeth forward to add an air of credibility - and then at the same time throw a wrench in the whole thing by getting a chin implant?

Or did it actually happen, and people don't want to believe it... just 'cuz.

I'm not saying it's real for sure. But I don't see anything in it to make me think it obviously isn't real. He's provided more than enough before/afters, information on his technique, and said he will continue to mew and update. Now does this sound like someone who's trying to fool the internet but is secretly continuously getting tens of thousands of dollars of plastic surgery a year, or some curious guy who's actually following through and doing what he says he's doing and trying to be helpful?

He has worse posture in the after photo making the mandible more pronounced.

The case posted here shows his chin growing out of nowhere and dorsal hump disappearing completely. We don't see that even in kids so it's very possible he has had fillers

His posture is better in the second photo, even better in the third. Happy to have a reasonable discussion about this, but what you do when you can't even agree on the basic facts?

I agreed with you about the original after picture that he posted. However, in the paused video, he's lacking most of those mewing qualities. It looks like he slightly shopped the after photo to give the illusion of forward growth. I don't doubt that he mews and some of his results are likely from that, but that chin growth is just absolutely insane. People saying it's just the angle of his chin are nuts; it literally grew more than 1cm straight out. It's still an incredible transformation, whether surgical or not, he looks great. I still choose to let it inspire me to try harder. I'm still going to try the methods he suggests, but I simply can't set my expectations anywhere near what's in that photo. I'm not yet convinced that that level of change is possible.

Please see my post above, on this page. He didn't do a perfect job and took the third photo from a slightly different angle. The forward growth and chin are exaggerated slightly because of this. Until @helmutstrebl sends us an updated photo from the same angle, conclusions about how he looks today are somewhat limited.

That's fair. At any rate, it got me mewing harder and I have seen results for sure. I just don't expect to become the Crimson Chin. Actually, the photos from that "Ronald Ead" guy near the top of this thread look very much like real mewing and I see no reason to doubt them. They are also extremely impressive. Ah I see you were talking about this case when you said "he". I thought you were referring to the OP.

@slinky what are you trying to show here? Look at the .gif -- the posture may be different but his whole head changed. The heads are the same size in each picture and the mandibles are aligned. (You may also notice that something happens to the chin -- feel free to comment here.)

NB. In the images below the head may be at a very slightly different angle in each photo (it will never be exact) but the changes are indisputable (provided you think that the picture is real.)

I just wanted to say, thanks for coming on the forum and posting all your pics and sharing all your info. On reddit too. I know I speak on behalf of many people when I say that you're a huge inspiration.

Simply always knowing that you can look like a new, hugely improved person in only 1-2 years is so motivating to do the exercises every day. It's a reminder that it really does depend on how hard you want to work, and that if you do work hard, it pays off.

The accusation of fillers throughout your entire face really had me laughing. I won't start with that, but I understand people suspicious of maybe some cosmetic work somewhere. The reason I believe it is all organic growth is simply that no change in your features seems out of place or unbelievable in comparison to the changes in your other features. For example, your eyes and brow - I think it would be ridiculous to say that that is an implant/filler. But it's a huge change. That adds credibility to your jaw changing in a similarly significant way.

Also, the change in the actual SHAPE of your cervical spine... that can't be faked and it's such a change to yourself you've made. That also adds credibility to, let's say, your chin progress being organic. I also really think your improved beard coverage on your chin makes an illusion that is harder to believe.

Anyway, thanks again! Can't wait to see your January 2020 pics.

Thanks man. Heres another before and after. I started bonesmashing as well now so i’m hoping i’ll get even better results.

@helmutstrebl Holy crapoli man, the pics just get more impressive.

I have mixed feelings about bonesmashing, though. If you do that, you can't claim this more natural "mewing transformation." I mean, hard mewing already isn't really "mewing," but bonesmashing would add in something very different and off-putting to a lot of people, and that will lose a bunch of people. Maybe you don't care about that though. Personally, the reason I am opting to not use a palate expander is that, in the end, I want to be able to talk about how all this is accomplishable with pretty much just your tongue. Other people here have very good reasons for getting an expander, but I am getting significant results without one. So why intervene with something that carries additional risks? Bonesmashing certainly carries risks.

On the other hand, if you were a hobbyist boxer, you would be exposed to similar forces on your face naturally...

Frankly, I've been tempted to try bonesmashing with the back of a metal spoon, taptaptapping all around my eyes, cheekbones, jawline etc. I think at least that approach is less dangerous than the people that do boneSMASHing.

In my opinion, your progress is amazing and keeps getting better. You're blowing the rest of us out of the water - why do you want to add bonesmashing?

@ray135 the reason i want to add bonesmashing is because i lack zygo mass which is stopping me from having hollow cheeks. And u can’t get big zygos from mewing.

The way i do bonesmashing isn’t risky. I do it just like u mentioned. I use a small wooden stick and just tap with a moderate force(hard enough to cause a little pain and swelling) all around my zygos for 10 minutes everyday. I started it a week ago. We’ll see how that goes!

Also you’re right that it will put some people off if i start bonesmashing but i want zygos too yk so i’ll take my chances xD

You don't need that kind of  thick zyggos dude, you have that perfect straight yet well defined temple to jaw line that looks aesthetic and geometric af but your zygos are still there and very important to your look. look at prime brad pitt, when litterally every womens were getting wet on him. Ofc it's your face do whatever you want but i find this a bit sad.

Now regardless of what the cause of your transformation is, whether it is mewing or implants/fillers i must say thank you. I will use some appliances, then try your routine and once health problems are fixed, if i am not satisfied with aesthetic i will just show a plastic surgeon that before after and say "i want that kind of transformation please". Sounds homo but it's not, i know i am not, very deep inside me i know  it.

@helmutstrebl You have a wonderful, symmetric, and beautiful face, and if you wanted you could easily be a model. There's no need for improvement at this point. Take care of yourself and please don't smash your face. Body dysmorphia is real and I worry you've already fallen prey to it.

I thought maybe I should elaborate on my suggestion about chin projection increasing without additional bone growth. Lots of people have a downturned chin as a result of CFD, even Brad Pitt seems to have it. I made a rough sketch to illustrate how the jawbone could "unfurl" as a result of mewing, as the face lifts up. At least this is exactly what seems to be happening to me. Just something potentially worth considering here.

You can also see that his head is rotating between those pictures. It's hard to draw conclusions.

Yes, but the brain is pretty adept at differentiating between actual changes and camera rotation, especially with the transitions between pictures. The general scope of what's happening is distinguishable. However it does look like his mandible could be gaining some length too. I wonder if his development had been somewhat stunted and bone rearrangement has allowed more growth towards genetic potential to take place. I think there's been a clear increase in bone volume in my face as well.

There is both a movement of the ramus forward from the ear and a rotation of the mandible that we call upswing but involves a lowering at the back. In this rotation lower incisors that were formerly upright, or appeared so, will become tipped in and require correction.

As a random point, the jaw region DOES grow new bone after consistent pressure. There was a video on another thread about a doctor in his 70s who tried an appliance that more or less simulates correct tongue posture. He did special scans of his bone structure before and after and showed new bone growth. It's definitely possible to grow new bone from pressure.

The chin was the focal point here, the rest of my illustration is rather irrelevant. The remodeling that I suggested is barely inconsistent with these ideas, especially if "lowering at the back" means ramus remodeling. Also, I don't see why the mechanism that has kept the incisors upright as the jaws downswung wouldn't work the other way around. The effects of mewing aren't synonymous to disarticulating the mandible and moving it around.

I realized that. My point is that he used a palatal expander and grew a slightly bigger chin. Something is going on there. There are a lot of folks parading around here saying that bone growth on the chin is impossible. This is the fourth example I've seen of a chin slightly changing size. The OP's case is just the most extreme.

@helmutstrebl

No need to 'bonesmash', honestly.

You already look 10/10. Keep mewing, it is bringing you to the max of your genetics and you look incredible.

I reckon if you mess with bonesmashing - taking it into your own hands and your own judgement - you will likely make yourself look worse if anything. You are super handsome without huge zygos, i think you'd look worse if they were more prominent.

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

Thanks man. Heres another before and after. I started bonesmashing as well now so i’m hoping i’ll get even better results.

I talked with him on discord, I believe it was not surgery, he is just obsessed about mewing and very dedicated.

You can see the changes in the eyes, how the hell would surgery archieve that?!?

If he did implants all over the place why not getting implants on the checkbones too?

What about the nose, so he did surgery to the nose too?

If it was surgeries then he spent like 50.000€ or more on them, because everything changed...

Hello, new poster here but pretty active on Reddit (not the same username).

I believe that this person's transformation is legit. His face has evolved in an incredibly harmonious manner. This would be very expensive using fillers/surgery. Not to mention he has two after pics, and has shared several others here and on his instagram, making it clear that his face progressively morphed through the months. So how many plastic surgeries would he have had, each one costing at least thousands of $$$s?

The most contentious issue I see and that has also been mentioned by you guys is his chin growing forward through mewing.

There are two questions here:

  1. Is such a chin naturally/genetically possible at all?
  2. If this chin growth is indeed in his genetic potential, why did it only grow forward from mewing?

The answer to 1 is yes, even though it is not as common, I see several people with such a chin naturally, especially the ones of South Asian descent with good facial development. Besides, several have been shared on this thread already. If anyone doubts this, I can take some time to compile examples and share them here.

The answer to 2: In his before pic, he doesn't have great lip seal. This is very common in people with improper development. So lip seal is achieved classically using the mentalis muscle (situated at the chin tip). Using the mentalis in such a fashion would be liable for “damaging the form of the chin tip” in Mike Mew’s own words ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lV9zv2_vcg&t=165s ). Now Dr. Mew has a tendency to casually mention things that would be profound revelations to the common man. It is possible that in helmut's before picture, the chin tip hadn’t reached genetic potential because it was damaged through improper mentalis muscle usage. In the after pic, his lip seal has improved greatly. I believe this freed the Mentalis from the improper engagement, allowing his chin tip to 'recover'/decompress/grow to its genetic potential. This exact hypothesis is confirmed in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmMKgXnyNH8&t=184s where Mike Mew talks about people who do the 'mentalis lip seal' not having the chin point and developing it after stopping the mentalis lip seal. This is pretty much precisely what has happened to helmut.

To summarize, for one to grow their chin through Mewing like this, three conditions need to be met:

  1. They need the protruding chin within their genetic potential
  2. They must have improper lip seal before mewing, but still have the tendency to create lip seal using the Mentalis
  3. They need to make enough progress through Mewing that natural lip seal greatly improves

2 is fairly common but not everyone has 1, and I would argue that the 3 barrier is very hard to cross in adulthood and without an appliance. @helmutstrebl is merely the first one we’ve seen who genetically has 1, had 2 pre-mewing and has been able to satisfy 3, through unprecedented effort and dedication.

Yes, let's accredit everything to surgery because it's a much easier explanation than to say that he did all this hard work on his own.

@135 Precisely, so how much do you reckon those procedures would have cost? North of $100k? And each and every one of them successful 100% without looking unnatural? Can't wait for those "surgeries" to take their toll once he hits the 2 or 3-year mark. I am sure doubters will come up with more obscene explanations then. Who knows? The mind is capable of many things, so why can't we just accept that his mind was capable of convincing the body that it needed to change, and did so with huge amount of effort.

You want to test this theory out for yourself? Great. Go ahead and devote as much time and effort as he did. He practically gave people the blueprint of what is achievable. If that turns out to be a hoax, so what, you are no better than you are now. BUT on the off chance that it works, you'll have him, Mike Mew, and the whole community to thank when you do get the results.

So go spend that time learning how to properly engage the posterior third and get throat burns like he did every single day, and try to keep it up 24/7. I've tried, and sure as hell isn't easy. Do that for a year, and who knows...you might just make it.

His third update photo made my jaw drop, it's just so dramatically different than the starting photo. It's really amazing.

However it looks like his mandible is too far forward in the last photo. Still, amazing results.

edit:

I am curious if he has ever provided an explanation for what happened to his chin. I have seen a lot of people calling it fake, an implant, etc. And that was my first impression of it, too. It does look very fake and unnatural. HOWEVER, even despite the fake-looking chin, the entire rest of his face has noticeably improved.

Ha! I never noticed it before but the 70 year old's chin came forward too!

Check it out, from the video!

so his chin went back, thats not a positive change to me...

The top picture is the "after".

I'm so grateful to this dude.

@helmutstrebl perhaps you already answered this but did you notice any sensation in your face, bride of your nose, eyebrow ridge, etc. when you hard mewed?

Take care!

@noises, that theory about the straightening of the mandible is something which occurred to me too. I think it's a plausible explanation for the lengthening of the mandible and chin.

I started mewing at a younger age than Helmut and still haven't achieved any results. Heck my palate hasnt expanded a single mm. Should i also expect my chin to grow out of nowhere and achieve a straighter nose?  Also him being willing to do something like "bone smashing" makes it quite clear he is obsessed with his appearance and likely had fillers or surgery.

@Slinky You cannot say that just because you didn't have expansion, it's not possible. Sailor has achieved expansion in his 30s. Go look at his post. I didn't achieve any expansion either (I'm 26). Then I found out I was Mewing wrong. This convinced me that it is indeed very hard to mew correctly if you have a narrow palate and as much as I hate to say it, most people probably don't have results because of wrong technique. Also, I don't think soft Mewing will give you results in adulthood. You need to apply as much force as you possibly can in the right places, which sometimes is so painful you want to stop. And you need to do this for several hours a day.

Also him being willing to do something like "bone smashing" makes it quite clear he is obsessed with his appearance and likely had fillers or surgery.

Him being willing to bone smash doesn't prove anything. We already know he's extremely obsessed with his appearance. I can say that he's so obsessed with his appearance that he hard mewed day and night to maximize his progress. Someone who's smart and obsessed with their long-term appearance is never going to get fillers because they know how badly the fillers degrade a few years down the line.

A thought on this endlessly fascinating case:

though none of us really know why this worked so well, what sets @helmutstrebl's case apart from the others was both the degree of his change and his dedicated (relentless?) chin-tucking.

It occurred to me that the forces on the back of the skull, say due to the SCMs on the mastoid process, might be a contributing factor in this guy's particularly dramatic change. Go ahead and palpate the tension in your SCMs while you're chin tucked, and compare that to the amount of force your tongue can apply. Which do you think is the greater force on the cranium?

Just as the tongue may influence changes to the overall shape of the cranium (including the back), perhaps the SCMs (among others) influence the front via the back.

Anyway, food for thought.

@skinnyboiii very good point.  There are 3 cases I consider noteworthy - Helmut's here, Jamo's and Achilles1.  I am giving the first 2 the benefit of the doubt that they didn't have surgery to get to where they are because the way they explain mewing is just too in-depth/nuanced to explain away with "surgery" imo.  I could be wrong in the future but that's my stance right now.

All 3 emphasize chin tuck/head posture as a major driving force.  I think you're on to something about the forces of good head posture potentially being greater than that of the tongue.

@drunkwithcoffee

There's also a kid on the orthotropics subreddit, labore_et_spera, iirc.

He also has made really quite drastic progress in 6 months, 17 years old though. He again presses on how integral chin tucks are for making progress.

It's made me consider the chin tucks and the really aggressive fixing of head posture as perhaps the main factor in the change, or at least as important as their tongue pressing against the roof of their mouth. Jamo actually explained his mewing technique like this, in that the tongue only pressed against the roof of the mouth because he was chin-tucking so hard, the tongue was almost automatically trying to make room for itself.

- Mewing for 6+ months
- IMW: 35mm (no expansion)
- Sleep on the floor without a pillow
- Tape mouth at night
- Continue to emphasise chin-tuck/occipital drive for extended periods
- Chew Mastic Tears for 1 hour every other day

It's because without forcing a chin tuck, the best you can do is what your (bad) structure allows. When you force a chin tuck, your tongue wants to go above and beyond what your structure allows, so it applies forces to move the maxilla out of the way. I doubt most people hard mewing without chin tucking are applying the correct force vectors.

You say that, but no one really knows. I'm just proposing an alternative idea. I w0uldn't have the slightest idea if there's a test to distinguish the two theories. Perhaps if one chin tucks obsessively without mewing, that would be a partial test.

@skinnyboiii If you chin tuck hard enough, the back of your tongue should be on your palate immediately. The reason most people have forward head posture in the first places is because the jaws have swung downwards and since the tongue is attached to the mandible, it will partially or completely block your airway unless you jut your head forward. The bodys number one priority is to secure the best airway, so naturally that is what occurs.

Getting the head posture is very difficult for someone with recession. When the posture improves it opens up for structural changes, which then allows for further improvements to posture.

Anyone actually following this guy's technique -- chin-tucking and hard mewing at all times while alone?

I'm giving it a shot myself. It's quite tiring. Hoping it gets easier.

I'm doing this too. Walking while chin tucking for hours every day. I'm starting to believe that proper Mewing isn't even possible without chin tucking. As Mike Mew says, the posterior third is under subconscious innovation and I think is entirely guided by neck posture. Initially when I forced chin tuck, the back of the neck musculature was making it happen but slowly I've been able to offload this to the back of the tongue. This position is very painful because the tongue is pressing full-force on the palate and that's the way to go. Have been doing it for a few weeks now, still learning the nuances but as a very early sign of progress, my expander felt less tight when I tried it on yesterday (I'm only using the expander to track/measure). If I achieve 1mm of expansion, I'm going to make a post detailing my approach.

Well, to be fair, fillers do degrade over time... however, there are several techniques that you can just do to mitigate these significant volume changes. Fo example, you can just go in quarterly to refill once noticeable changes are spotted. You and your practitioner can get the times down to a science and nobody would ever know imo

I don't believe this Is the only reason for forward head posture at all. But it is a scientific fact that the pelvis and jaw have a connection and influence each other. So, if that's the case, why can't the fixation of one's pelvic positioning influence the jaws to grow back outwards like they are supposed to? Also, why can't performing consistent good head posture not eventually trigger the body into remodeling the jaws/airway provided your body is already in a well balanced posture with nothing holding you back? Why does it always stop at the jaws on this forum, I don't get it?

Ha, you guys are funny. It sees to be true though... The most amusing one is the surgery claims. Like if any singl invasive surgery leads to any type of long standing desirable results lol.

This thread is proof that you can never convince someone mewing works, because since their personal results suck, everyone else's great results must be surgery.

Too true, great results require huge amounts of dedication and effort. And even than it will take a few years to see them. You really need to be somewhat obsessed about this if you want to make a big change.

He already had good bone structure to begin with. It wasn't as if he looked like StBlackOps2cel or Eggman. His midface ratio was decent, he had good fwhr, and was decently good looking as it was. For results like these you need a great foundation. It doesn't disprove his transformation, he just got to 100 from a starting point of 85 where someone like me had a starting point of 40 or thereabouts.

This is an incredible transformation. It's not even a matter of how he achieved all of this, the change in itself is be groundbreaking regardless of the techniques and methods involved. No documented combination of surgeries, fillers or implants has ever produced a change as natural and pleasing as this. Nothing has, as far as I am aware of. This is something truly special, and I hope that Helmut gets a chance to thoroughly explain himself.

@eddiemoney Do you believe salludon did all of this with hard mewing pushing up like he stated? Or do you think he was mainly pushing forward? my guess is he was pushing up and forward but the forward is what translated into his results. It seems like everyone is hard mewing these days but no one can get results close to him. He had to be doing something different than the majority.

My guess is that very few (myself included) can consciously hard mew for more than a few minutes. Maybe the constant will and force is what produces results

If it is a hoax, and I am not saying that it is, then it is not about fillers and plastic surgery, then it is an entirely different person on the later pictures than in the early ones. Thats the only other possibility imo. But maybe he just knows how to mew like no one else.

If that was the only unique thing about his case, we would see more cases like his. Plenty of peoples are starting out from a decent foundation. There is more to it than that, his hard mewing dedication must be out of this world, possibly combined with some other factor, like his sutures are not as hardly fused as the average person.

Never said his good starting point as the only factor for him being in the top 0.01%, just that it was a factor.

He was extremely dedicated, consistent and knowledgeable too which makes him belong in the above-ish percentage. I recall him saying that he even tried to maintain good posture even when standing by tightening his lower abs and glutes (unlike most of us). That and walking in that extreme chin tuck he mentioned must have also contributed greatly for his results.

This is not all mewing/chewing based. This was a result of bonesmashing with Vitamin K supplementing. I will notify helmutstrebl to share a full routine soon

The bonesmashing was for his zygos, though. It didn't explain his skull getting wider and chin coming forward/lower third getting longer. Mewing gave him most of his results while I think bonesmashing was the icing on the cake.

I am at least glad mewing gave me cheekbones so I don't have to bonesmash my face. I do know personally bonesmashing works though because my knuckles have grown a lot from bareknuckle punching brick walls.

I checked his insta out a few months before he apparently started bone smashing and I can tell you that his cheekbones were already pretty prominent then. I don't know why he thought of bone smashing, though as he already had his zygos pushed out and up from mewing.

Start, one year, and two year. obvious camera distortion ruins the last frame but the first two are pretty good.

edit:
Here's another gif focusing on the midface and nose profile, excluding the last pic. interesting stuff. Not perfect.

PS. If anyone can do a better job lining these up that'd be sweet considering I only have my phone and paint to do this, so there's an inherent imprecision from me. But this is the best I can do.

Considering my own personal results (which are nowhere near his current face but very drastic) I do believe he did accomplish this on his own without surgery. At this point I am convinced model tier looks are possible for those that already started out with decent bone structure. Those of us that started with below average development can still be glad to look like we at least don't have CFD anymore. My previously non existent ogee curve testifies to this.

edit:
Here's another gif focusing on the midface and nose profile, excluding the last pic. interesting stuff. Not perfect.

ezgif.com optimize (11)

PS. If anyone can do a better job lining these up that'd be sweet considering I only have my phone and paint to do this, so there's an inherent imprecision from me. But this is the best I can do.

Anyone who says that camera angles make his results inconclusive are wanting to not believe at this point.

@eddiemoney Do you think pretty much anyone can have a big of change as you or salludon? Is hard work and technique the main limiting factor or does it all come down to genetics/sutures/age?  My main question is if I work as hard as salludon and do tongue ballooning would it be reasonable to expect drastic results? My fear is to end up like the kids on reddit who have little to no changes. Thanks btw im 18

I will br 34 this year and I started in 2017 just learning about mewing. So I do believe it is possible.

This result is either mewing or Helmut’s better looking cousin, but my gut tells me this is mewing.

Bonesmashing: 1-2 minutes every hour, 3x a week 5 min. on each zygo 5 min. on chin (hard af).

Just saw this now but all i can say is WOW. @darkindigo i looked at your comment on some post maybe it was this one too?? idk. But you stated that focusing on the back of the tongue too much leads to a wide palate and doesnt help with the front of the palate. I believe you even said it causes the front teeth to recess which is literally the opposite of what i want!! I have a deep bite and thats always what ive done is focus on the back mostly and swallowing and having proper suuction. Ive never really had a lot of force on the front of the palate. Your statement seems to go along with what this guy does. He just hard mewed and chin tuck. when you do that your going to get a TON of force pushing upward on the front of the palate which would seem to lead to a lot of changes.

hollllly shiiiit

I have decent results after one year due to chewing I think... but if that is true

So he chin tucked? How did he push?

Oh boy, this motivates me. I am 22

I was looking at old pictures of him again

I believe that Mewing works, but you should consider the following points, which also bring a change

1. probably the most important: Losing facial fat! Bloat etc. In the past he had a little more. This makes a drastic difference, because you couldn't see the bones so well before.

Vitamin K also helps in my opinion: Either it helps flush out water or it makes the bones pop out.

2.

Hyoid/fat under chin is gone = Drastic change from the side

3. massester construction. General facial muscles

4. growth, face definitely continues to develop in the 20s.

I just wonder to what extent Mewing has changed his facial structure and what role the other points play. I think everything had an influence

I don't know if the changes are solely the result of mewing or there's other unnatural things that helped but it's an amazing change. Wow.

You can definitely see the increase in the distance between the ear and the lips and I don't see how fillers could achieve this.

@eddiemoney I agree with @OkBrah. It would be really interesting to see your results. Especially considering how much you have posted and contributed here on this forum.

I am planning on sharing. Keep in mind my changes won't be anywhere near as impressive as @HelmutStrebl BUT I feel for where I started they have been good. Especially considering my age (I started in my 30s)

If you do post a progress pic, kindly post a pic of your smile as well since I'd like to see how a gummy smile improves with time (I have never seen this even on Reddit).

Filler dissolving after a few short years is a myth. There were studies done showing that people who had filler injected 10 years prior still had most of it prevalent in their faces. What actually happens is the filler moves around to surrounding areas over time and so looks less effective, as though it had “dissolved” and can make people look puffy after a period of time. Of course, you can get the filler manually dissolved if you don’t like it.

* Don't use the muscle under chin

This could be interpreted incorrectly. He said to mew in a way that didn't make you have a bulge under your chin, not to stop using "the muscle under chin" since there are so many muscles attached to the hyoid which helps in mewing.

Posted by: @gentleman

* Molars are in contact for growth of mandible and maxilla both

He recommended "very light contact" like Mike Mew recommends.

Also, one other thing he mentioned in his first year routine was that he slept with a pillow with his head on the edge, in a chin-tuck position.

I went through his comment history on Reddit multiple times and it also shows that he was on-and-off mewing since he was 20 (he stated this himself) but got really into it when he was 21-22. So he's actually been mewing for 4 years (if he's 24 now).

I don't know if @Helmutstrebl is still following the forum, anyway I'd be very curious to know if during these years his voice changed too?

Here John Mew explains why he doesn’t have many X-rays of patients.

Also regarding Helmutsrebl’s case: seems like a mixture of mewing and probably fillers and/or a chin augmentation to me. Seems he’s had the best of both worlds which has led to a great result.

Could this be evidence of the mandible growing? I thought that wasn’t possible?

My guess combine loss of fat you can see cheek bone better. He is in his early 20's so still growing which is common for many men. Along with a strict routine and decent genetics he got this result. Now does this mean we all get it?? No . For older folks no. For younger maybe a better chance .

@rocoloco He's not following the forum anymore, he appearantly forgot his password. I'm luckily able to act as a middle man for him though with discord.

I asked him about if his voice changed and he told me: "I really don't think so tbh"

I followed up with:

"Didn't get better at signing e.g.? Like Astro appearany did through mewing mostly"
"Did your palate expand quite a bit with mewing? I think it's tied mainly to palate size"

To which he responded with: "Palate expanded but i'm not sure about voice"

The mandible often just changes growth of direction which gives the illusion its grown.

mandible grows just not the way people think, mandible grows in the back (ramus region) both horizontally and vertically, and not in the chin area.

the chin growth happens because of strong lip seal of lower lip changing incisors inclination + mandible moving forward because of growth in the ramus region.

His newer pictures are insane to be honest. It's like he got $50,000 worth of surgery FOR FREE. I've never seen something like this in my life.

@guerrilla Mean either, but do bear in mind those pictures are heavily frauded and professionaly taken. But that's not to take anything away from his INSANE bone-structure. Til this day I'm bewildered and amazed on what he did and those results his got. Simply M IN D B L O W I N G! Does anyone have any of his social medias beside Instagram?
